Drone Pilot Internship at CHS Inc.
CHS Inc., a leading global agribusiness, seeks a highly motivated and skilled Drone Pilot Intern to join our team at our Global Grain & Processing export facility in Myrtle Grove, LA. This unique opportunity offers valuable experience in utilizing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for bird mitigation and critical infrastructure inspection. The successful candidate will contribute to a dynamic team, developing their skills while supporting essential operational needs. The internship is a hybrid position based in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, with a competitive hourly salary range of $17-$25.
Responsibilities:
The Drone Pilot Intern will perform a variety of duties, including but not limited to:
- Adherence to all FAA regulations, company policies, and procedures.
- Coordination of flight schedules with location managers.
- Execution of comprehensive pre-flight, flight, and post-flight aircraft duties.
- Efficient upload and organization of drone data.
- Performance of basic drone maintenance to ensure optimal functionality.
- Meticulous completion of daily flight logs.
- Flexibility to work a set schedule that may include dawn, dusk, weekdays, and weekends.
- Potential for travel to southern facilities in Louisiana and Texas.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid FAA Part 107 UAS Certificate.
- Demonstrable UAS work experience, including verifiable flight time.
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, displays leadership potential, possesses effective presentation skills, and thrives in a collaborative team environment, even under resource and time constraints.
- A demonstrable passion for customer satisfaction and product quality.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Prior aviation experience.
- Experience or certification in photogrammetry software (e.g., Pix4D, DroneDeploy).
- Experience conducting indoor inspections using systems such as the Flyability Elios.
Compensation and Benefits:
