Primary Responsibilities
The CRJ Simulator Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality, professional aviation training in strict adherence to CAE standards, regulatory requirements, and customer Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting thorough and professional pre- and post-flight simulator briefings in accordance with CAE standards.
- Executing simulator sessions strictly in accordance with CAE, aircraft manufacturer, or customer SOPs.
- Delivering comprehensive flight training compliant with the CAE 14 CFR 142 Manual and the customer's specified training program.
- Completing appropriate crew training records accurately and comprehensively to ensure seamless handover and effective tracking of pilot progress.
- Recommending and administering remedial training for pilots who do not meet required training progression standards.
- Documenting simulator utilization and discrepancies using established company procedures.
- Maintaining instructional qualifications and proficiency as required by company policies and aviation regulations.
- Actively promoting and integrating Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) principles throughout all training sessions.
- Acting as a Subject Matter Expert in the creation of curricula and courseware when required.
- Assisting the Training Manager with administrative programs in all areas of flight training as required.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates must possess the professional experience and qualifications necessary to serve as an elite Simulator Instructor:
- Licensure: Current, Unrestricted FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) License is mandatory.
- Type Rating: A CRJ (CL-65) type rating is REQUIRED.
- Must be authorized to live and work in the United States.
- Must be able and willing to participate in CAE’s DOT Drug & Alcohol testing program.
- Experience Requirements: Must meet the relevant minimum qualification and experience requirements for qualification as a Simulator Instructor, including at least one of the following:
- Two (2) years of air carrier experience as Pilot in Command (PIC) or Second in Command (SIC) in any operation conducted under 14 CFR Part 121; OR
- Two (2) years of air carrier operational experience as a PIC in operations under 14 CFR Part 91 for a multiengine turbine-powered fixed-wing and powered-lift aircraft requiring an ATP license; OR
- Two (2) years of air carrier operational experience as a PIC in operations under 14 CFR Part 135 for a turbojet airplane requiring an ATP license.
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience.
- Scheduling: Must be available for a minimum of ten (10) days per month, including the ability to work flexible hours (early mornings and late evenings).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge of FAR Parts 61, 91, and 121 is essential.
- Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills. Fluency in English is required.
- Strong focus on quality with a continuous drive towards process improvement and customer satisfaction, maintaining a strong customer orientation even under adverse circumstances.
- Proficiency with PC computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and iPad skills (e.g., Foreflight, navigating multiple applications simultaneously).
