About the Role
CAE x SIMCOM is actively seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Instructor Pilot to join its esteemed team. The Instructor Pilot operates in strict adherence to CAE x SIMCOM's rigorous standards and policies, playing a pivotal role in delivering exceptional ground school and simulator training. This critical position encompasses the provision of Initial, Recurrent, and specialized training courses to a diverse customer base. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a profound commitment to fostering customer progress and performance, employing a personalized and adaptive instructional approach. Responsibilities include meticulous lesson planning, efficient classroom and simulator setup, and diligent upkeep of current aviation publications and training materials. Occasional travel may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering standardized aviation training within classroom and simulator environments, and occasionally in aircraft, for a comprehensive range of programs, including: Captain Upgrades, Initial and Recurrent Training, Pilot in Command (PIC) and Second in Command (SIC) Evaluations, Differences Training, and Remedial Training.
- Upholding and enforcing stringent company standards by instructing and requiring adherence to established benchmarks for service excellence and aviation safety.
- Exercising strong interpersonal, verbal, written, listening, and presentation skills to effectively convey complex subjects and provide constructive, actionable feedback.
- Possessing and applying keen judgment to accurately and impartially evaluate pilot performance.
- Conducting comprehensive ground and simulator training sessions for customers at SIMCOM facilities.
- Maintaining impeccable records, completing all necessary paperwork, and submitting required documents to the company in a timely and accurate manner.
- Evaluating customer progression in acquiring requisite skills and knowledge, ensuring alignment with SIMCOM's established training standards.
- Serving as a professional liaison between customers and training center managers, fostering clear communication and positive relationships.
- If authorized as a Training Center Evaluator (TCE) for CAE x SIMCOM, conducting Proficiency Checks and Certification Checks as authorized under FAR Part 135 and Part 142 regulations.
- Assisting in defining customer training requirements through active participation in training conferences and meetings.
- Consistently maintaining the highest level of competency and qualifications necessary to instruct authorized programs.
- Exhibiting an unwavering commitment to professionalism in all interactions and duties.
- Performing other aviation-related duties and assignments as required to support operational excellence.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or state-issued equivalent is required; an Associate or College Degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 2-5 years of directly related job-relevant experience, ideally within aviation training or operations.
- Demonstrated prior experience in teaching, training, or instructing others.
- Proven track record of work assignments reflecting a strong customer service orientation.
- Must be legally authorized to live and work in the United States.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, and other internet-based programs.
- Ability to participate in CAE's Department of Transportation (DOT) Anti-Drug & Alcohol testing program.
- Possession of an existing instructor qualification or a relevant type rating is preferred.
- Current or previous holder of a professional pilot’s license.
- Extensive experience operating under FAR Part 135 regulations, with a minimum of 5,000 hours of total flight time.
- Possession of an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate and a minimum of one unrestricted Pilot in Command (PIC) type rating is preferred.
- Exceptional fluency in English, encompassing superior verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to speak, understand, read, and write proficiently.
- Must possess outstanding listening and presentation skills, essential for exceeding customer expectations throughout the training process.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This role operates within a dual environment setting, primarily encompassing office and simulator locations. The position may require light lifting, up to 30 pounds, and involves prolonged periods of sitting, standing or walking.
