Essential Requirements & Candidate Profile
British Airways seeks highly skilled and dedicated aviation professionals who meet the following criteria:
- A current Airbus A320 type rating with a minimum of 500 hours on type (excluding simulator time).
- Recent flying experience on the A320 family of aircraft within the last 12 months.
- A valid UK-issued CAA Flight Crew Licence (ATPL (A), fATPL (A), or MPL), or an EASA licence that satisfies the UK CAA's "Third Country CPL and ATPL licence conversion requirements" (Routes 3, 4, 5, or 6).
- A current UK CAA Class 1 Medical Certificate, which must be held prior to a job offer.
- Height between 1.57m (5’2”) and 1.91m (6’3”). Applicants exceeding 1.91m may be considered subject to a functionality check to ensure compliance with seating position requirements across the British Airways fleet.
- Demonstrable good physical fitness.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English to ICAO Level 6.
- A valid passport with a minimum of 12 months remaining until its expiry date.
Important Note for EASA Licence Holders: Pilots holding an EASA licence who previously held a UK Part-FCL licence, or completed training in the UK and were awarded a UK licence, are required to upload a copy of their previous UK licence or proof of UK training completion within the supporting files section of their application.

- Unsuccessful applicants at the initial screening, video interview, capacity testing, or assessment centre stage are eligible to reapply for the pilot recruitment campaign after a period of six months from their most recent assessment date.
- Candidates who are unsuccessful at the SIM stage must observe a 12-month waiting period before reapplying for the pilot recruitment campaign.
- Applications may only be submitted to one airline within the British Airways family (British Airways, Euroflyer, or Cityflyer) at any given time. Should an applicant be unsuccessful in one campaign, reapplications to any of the three airlines are subject to the specified reapplication period.
- Successful candidates will be placed into a hold pool. Candidates within the hold pool are eligible for a maximum of two job offers. Declining a second job offer will result in exit from the hold pool, necessitating reapplication after 12 months and completion of the entire selection process.
