Why This Role Matters:
This position, within the Crew Scheduling Team of the Integrated Operations Division, focuses on efficiently scheduling pilots to staff every American Airlines flight. The Pilot Scheduler ensures compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR 117 Limitations), pilot union contractual guidelines, and company policies. This role also involves managing pilot staffing and collaborating with the Supervisor to address daily operational requirements. The Pilot Scheduler plays a key role in allocating open time caused by weather, irregular operations, charters, ferries, equipment substitutions, and other factors to bases capable of covering the operation efficiently and cost-effectively. Ultimately, this role contributes to providing safe, reliable, and courteous service to American Airlines crew members, who in turn, provide exceptional service to our valued passengers.
What You Will Do:
- Maintain pilot schedules and assignments in accordance with company standard operating procedures, Federal Aviation Regulations, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Generate, monitor, and interpret various message reports related to pilot schedules.
- Communicate schedule changes to pilots in a timely manner.
- Utilize various electronic communication methods to interact with team members across different operational functions.
- Employ multiple software programs, including FOS, SPP, Microsoft Office Suite, and web browsers, to monitor and modify pilot schedules.
- Provide excellent and timely customer service to pilots, addressing their scheduling needs effectively.
- Remain current on industry standards and company procedures by completing required online and classroom training.
- Demonstrate flexibility by working various shifts, including holidays and weekends, in a 24/7 operation.
- Adapt to changing operational needs by working overtime as required, sometimes with limited notice.
- Support team cohesion by assisting with on-the-job training for new hires as needed.
- Commit to a one-year tenure within the Crew Scheduling department upon successful hiring.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Demonstrated customer service experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in a related field.
- 1-2 years of airline industry experience.
- Operations experience and familiarity with the SABRE/DECS system.
