Amentum is seeking a qualified Plane Captain to perform essential aircraft handling, servicing, and inspection duties. This role is based at a US government facility.
About the Role
The Plane Captain is responsible for the safe and efficient handling of aircraft, including performing daily and turn-around inspections, aircraft servicing, and providing technical assistance. This position also involves acting as a taxi director, towing aircraft, and ensuring compliance with various safety and operational programs.
Responsibilities

Perform duties of Aircraft Washer and Plane Captain Helper classifications.

Conduct daily and turn-around inspections according to established procedures.

Initiate and complete maintenance forms.

Perform aircraft fuel sampling and servicing.
-
Launch and recover aircraft, serving as the taxi director.

Tow aircraft and act as a brake rider when required.

Secure aircraft by tying down and covering.

Provide technical assistance and guidance.

Utilize two-way communication equipment.

Ensure compliance with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, Egress Familiarization, and Tool Control programs.

Adhere to general and industrial safety rules and regulations.

Ensure the safety, security, and preservation of government and company equipment.

Provide professional customer service.

Operate portable firefighting equipment.

Maintain cleanliness of the work center.

Perform other qualified duties as assigned.
Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
-
Two (2) or more years of experience in aviation maintenance and/or flight line operations.

Valid Driver’s License.

Ability to obtain/maintain government/company licenses, qualifications, certifications, and clearances.

Proficiency in reading, writing, understanding, and communicating in English, and following instructions.

Thorough knowledge of applicable safety and maintenance manuals.

Working knowledge of aircraft flight line operations, aircraft handling, servicing, marshaling, common hand tools, and operational safety requirements.

Physical ability to climb, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, crouch, kneel, carry, balance, reach above shoulder level, and push or pull up to 70 pounds.

Close vision, including color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Ability to hear at the normal range.

Must complete training and be certified as a plane captain, with semi-annual re-qualification required.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance; US Citizenship is required for clearance.

Must be qualified on all assigned T/M/S (Type/Model/Series).

Ability to work all assigned shifts and schedules.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with F-18 (A-F), EA-18G, or F-16 aircraft.

Hazardous Waste Communications Training.

FOD and TCP Awareness Trained.

ISO 9001-2000 Program Awareness.
-
Operational Risk Management (ORM) Training.

Licensing on support equipment such as tow tractors, nitrogen servicing carts, engine wash carts, and engine start units.

Experience handling hazardous materials may be required.

Ability to use eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.

Potential requirement to use a respirator.
