This is a unique opportunity that allows a First Officer Flight Instructor- SIM the ability to instruct for the first three years of their flying career here at Alaska Airlines while accruing seniority as an Alaska Airlines First Officer. Given the dual role candidates for this position will be required to meet minimum requirements for both an Alaska Airlines First Officer and Alaska Airlines First Officer Flight Instructor – SIM. Successful candidates will serve their 365-day probation period [Section 22.F] while instructing. Once released to the line this unique position will allow you to begin your flying career with a minimum of three years seniority if you successfully complete the program.

First Officer Flight Instructor – SIM: The First Officer Flight Instructor- SIM is a subject matter expert in flight simulation instructions for Alaska Airlines (AS). As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgment to make instruction decisions in the flight training device (FTD), full flight simulator (FFS) and classroom ground training to develop and reinforce flight procedures in normal, abnormal, and emergency flight operations This instructor will interact with the AQP department and provide recommendations on the development and maintenance of training department curricula and courseware.
Required
* A minimum of 4,000 hours total flight time in a fixed wing aircraft or 1,200 hours total flight time in a high – performance military aircraft.
* 1,000 hours Multiengine turbine PIC.
* 50% of rotor-wing flight time up to 1,000 hours may be counted toward total flight time.
* 5 years of aviation experience.
* A current First Class FAA medical certificate.
* An FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
* Must possess and/or obtain a current passport with unlimited access in and out of the United States. Employees with non-U.S. passports also will need any appropriate travel documentation.
* Excellent judgment, leadership skills, demonstrated command ability and maturity.
* Professional demeanor and appearance.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Internet email functions.
* Must be comfortable with a domicile in Seattle, WA; Los Angeles, CA; Anchorage, AK; Portland, OR; or San Francisco, CA.
* Minimum 23 years of age.
* Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
* Ability to communicate in English.
* Ability to lead classroom discussions and present both technical and non-technical information with high energy, passionate enthusiasm, and a commitment to excellence.
* Effective communication skills (e.g., verbal, written, and listening).
* Detail oriented and highly organized, with ability to multi-task and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
* Four-year degree from an accredited university.
* 2 years of experience ground/flight instruction in commercial aviation.
* 1 year of experience providing flight instruction for commercial aircraft.
* FAA ATP certificate and 737 type rating.
* Knowledge of 737 aircraft systems.
* Experience of instruction in Level D simulators.
* Flight instruction in CFR 121 training program.
* Line experience as pilot for a CFR 121 Air Carrier.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and other graphics software to create instructional training curricula.
