Airline Pilot
An airline pilot is responsible for conducting assigned flights in strict accordance with the Airline Operational Manual and all applicable civil aviation authority regulations. The pilot ensures the highest levels of safety, security, and efficiency are maintained throughout all flights. He guides and supports the flight and cabin crew, manages emergencies and unexpected situations effectively, and takes command of the flight to guarantee optimal performance and uphold a positive corporate image.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pilots the assigned aircraft between destinations according to established schedules and approved flight plans. He is ultimately responsible for the aircraft during assigned flights, prioritizing safety, efficiency, and passenger comfort.
- Ensures all assigned flights adhere to the detailed provisions of the Airline’s Operations Manual and relevant regulations. Implements, monitors, and maintains the procedures necessary for the safe and seamless operation of the aircraft.
- Ensures timely attendance, appropriate grooming, fitness, and legal compliance for himself and the flight crew. Conducts pre-flight briefings to ensure all crew members are fully informed of flight details, and ensures thorough briefings are conducted before each action according to established procedures.
- Collaborates with co-pilots (First Officer and Second Officer) and the Dispatch Team prior to each flight to ensure comprehensive preparation of flight and cabin crew, providing essential information including aircraft technical status, route preferences, weather conditions, fuel levels, weight distribution, and role assignments.
- Optimizes fuel efficiency during flight operations within the safety parameters outlined in the Airline’s Operations Manual.
- Ensures that all required safety, security, fuel, and transit checks are carried out by the assigned flight and cabin crew members before, during, and after each flight. Takes decisive action and directs the crew in response to safety or security irregularities, escalating issues as necessary.
- Collaborates with Maintenance Engineers to confirm aircraft technical status and ensure airworthiness. Seeks support from the Maintenance Control Center (MCC) and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) organizations to raise concerns and identify defects or technical issues, implementing immediate rectification or corrective measures when applicable.
- Ensures that all necessary documents and technical logs are accurately completed and loaded in accordance with airline and civil aviation authority regulations and established procedures, including the technical logbook, journey book, boarding sheets, and reports.
- Ensures that the Airline Operations Manual is distributed, properly managed, maintained, kept current, understood, and complied with by the flight crew.
- Remains current with the legal requirements of various regulatory bodies, including civil aviation authorities, aircraft manufacturers, and other relevant organizations pertaining to flights and flight crew operations.
- Performs additional ground-based tasks, such as Safety Officer or Security Officer duties, as directed by the line manager and as outlined in Part A of the Airline’s Operations Manual.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid and appropriate Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
- Must successfully complete the technical and psychometric assessment for pilots as per airline and civil aviation authority standards.
- Must pass the required medical fitness check-up for pilots as per airline and civil aviation authority standards.
- Essential training in safety and emergency response; formal qualification is an advantage.
- Basic training in airport and security procedures and regulations is an advantage.
- Crew Resource Management (CRM) training is an advantage.
- Knowledge of IATA principles and standards related to security is an advantage.
- Proficient in aircraft systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing and presentation skills.
- Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in other languages relevant to the country of employment is an advantage.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 4000 hours of flight experience is required; experience on Airbus 320 aircraft is preferred.
- Experience with a low-cost airline is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated industry knowledge of aircraft systems and operating procedures.
- Knowledge and experience to handle delegated roles such as security or safety-related roles as required by the Airline and civil aviation authority regulations.
- Exposure to Quality Assurance (QA), Safety, Security, and Audit procedures and practices related to flight operations.
- Proven ability to implement policies, procedures, and manuals according to approved standards and regulations.
- Ability to perform effectively in a dynamic environment with demanding workloads and unexpected scenarios.

- Demonstrated skills in analyzing data, identifying potential issues, and recommending cost-effective solutions.
