Our client, a leading private aviation operator, is seeking a highly qualified and motivated First Officer (Second In Command - SIC) for a managed Citation CJ3 aircraft based in the Greater Pittsburgh Area. This role requires residence within the Greater Pittsburgh region and involves extensive travel.
The Second In Command reports administratively to the Chief Pilot and reports to the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) during flight operations. The SIC is responsible for assisting the PIC in preparing for and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of company aircraft, strictly adhering to Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and company procedures.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong initiative, a positive attitude, and a desire to represent core company values. They possess the ability to perform consistently in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating effective interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. Essential attributes include accountability, the ability to handle difficult conversations professionally, and strong problem-solving skills under pressure. Clear and effective communication via phone, email, and personal correspondence is necessary. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites and a basic understanding of computer applications and data entry are required. Strong critical thinking, presentation skills, the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively are crucial. Additional cognitive processing skills include effective time management, memorization, reasoning and connecting ideas, adept quick learning, problem finding and solving, multitasking, detail orientation, attention to detail, a focus on excellence, and adaptability.
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
The work environment involves exposure to loud noises from aircraft machinery and jet engines, typical outdoor and industrial/hangar environments, and potential exposure to extreme temperatures due to travel requirements. The aircraft interior is a typical business aircraft cabin, which may present tight or cramped spaces.
The role requires the ability to see and hear clearly, read, comprehend, and speak English clearly. Physical demands include the ability to climb, twist, bend, crouch, stoop, kneel, and crawl, move in tight quarters, and sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. The ability to work in all weather conditions as needed is required, along with the ability to regularly push/pull up to 70 pounds and regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds.
A well-groomed appearance is required, with adherence to the department dress code.
Travel is required 100% while on rotation.
