Role Overview
The Ground School Instructor plays a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of Wheels Up pilots. Tasked with delivering engaging and comprehensive ground training, this individual ensures all pilots are meticulously prepared for flight. Responsibilities encompass both new hire and recurrent training, covering a range of crucial modules and materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and effective instruction for both New Hire and Recurrent pilot training programs.
- Maintain full compliance with regulatory standards in all ground training activities, meticulously documenting all training in accordance with the Wheels Up Training Manual.
- Provide ongoing support to students, serving as a key point of contact before and during ground training and proactively assisting in issue resolution.
- Manage the administration of online tests and distance learning modules, ensuring timely completion and adherence to established standards.
- Monitor student progress closely, providing additional training or guidance as required. Conduct final performance evaluations and make recommendations for simulator training.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and revision of both printed and electronic courseware and training materials.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant course content, including embracing new curriculum to meet the evolving needs of Wheels Up.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of two years of experience as a ground instructor.
- FAA ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) or Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI) certification is mandatory.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to adapt teaching style to address diverse student needs and questions.
- Proven ability to effectively evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe products.
- Prior experience in Aeronautical Ground and Flight instruction is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of Part 135 Regulations, Company Operations, and SOPs.
- Demonstrated ability to create independent coursework and training materials with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, which may include holidays, overnight stays, and weekends.
- Ability to stand for up to 90 minutes at a time.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, less than 25% of the time.
- Ability to climb stairs.
