Part-Time Adjunct Instructor - Computer Science & Electrical Engineering

Job Overview

West Virginia University's Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering (LCSEE) is expanding and seeks dedicated Part-Time Adjunct Instructors. This role supports the university's strategic initiative to enhance the educational and research experiences of both online and in-person students. Ideal candidates will possess expertise in one or more of the following critical fields:

West Virginia University is recognized as an R1 University (Highest Research Activity) by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. LCSEE comprises 29 faculty members and serves approximately 750 undergraduate and 150 graduate students. WVU holds designations as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Research and Cyber Defense Education from the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The department is also an active participant in the USCYBERCOM academic engagement network (AEN) and the AFRL Information Institute. WVU is the founding institution for the multi-university Center for Identification Technology Research (CITeR), an NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center (I/UCRC) offering numerous funded opportunities for faculty engaged in biometrics, machine learning, and computer vision. The department further offers a graduate area of emphasis in Computational Data Science and digital health, alongside a highly-ranked, fully online Master's in Software Engineering program developed in collaboration with Coursera.

Qualifications

Eligible candidates must possess an earned doctorate in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline at the time of appointment.

Consideration will also be extended to candidates holding Bachelor of Science (BS) and Master of Science (MS) degrees in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline from an accredited university, coupled with extensive industry experience (10+ years).

Candidates demonstrating active research experience in their area of expertise, a record of academic publications, and a genuine interest in advising and mentoring doctoral students are considered highly desirable.
