Captain (DASH 8 100/300) Position

Voyageur Aviation Corp. is seeking a highly skilled Captain to join its Flight Operations team. Reporting to the Director, Flight Operations, the Captain will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the company's DH8 fleet. Operations will primarily support overseas bases located throughout Africa and the Middle East.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Pilot-in-Command, ensuring the safe operation of company aircraft.
  • Brief crew on planned operations, routes, and any pertinent operational concerns.
  • Maintain operational control parameters throughout all flights.
  • Supervise and delegate responsibilities to crew members.
  • Ensure on-time performance and achieve all flight objectives.
  • Liaise with Voyageur’s Dispatch department, Air Traffic Control (ATC), Flight Service Stations (FSS), and clients.
  • Maintain readily available maps, charts, and navigation equipment.
  • Review, amend, and complete operational paperwork, flight plans, and manuals as needed.
  • Lead safety briefings and simulated emergency scenarios.
  • Ensure the safety and security of crew, aircraft, and cargo.
  • Proactively utilize Voyageur’s Safety and Risk Management system.
  • Adhere to all company policies, air regulations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain all qualifications required to operate Dash 8 aircraft.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a valid Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
  • Minimum of 3000 hours total flight time.
  • Minimum of 1500 hours multi-pilot-in-command time.
  • Minimum of 500 hours on a Dash 8 aircraft, with at least 350 hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC).
  • Meet all Transport Canada requirements to operate a Dash 8 aircraft.
  • Current DH8 type-rating.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and the capacity to identify effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Willingness to work overnight shifts.

Eligibility:

Candidates must be legally eligible to work for a Canadian company, possessing either Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid work permit. A clear Criminal Background Check is also required.
