Role Summary

Bombardier Flight Operations has an immediate opening within the Montreal Flight Operations Challenger Flight Test team for a highly experienced and technically proficient Pilot, Captain. This critical role ensures the safety, quality, and airworthiness of world-class aircraft through rigorous testing procedures. The Captain will contribute directly to evolving global mobility by applying expertise within an environment where innovative ideas are encouraged and supported.

Key Responsibilities and Contributions

The successful candidate will assume the duties of Aircraft Commander and will execute essential operational and flight testing functions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Executing specialized production ground and flight tests to rigorously validate the airworthiness of new and completed aircraft.
  • Conducting demonstration flights for potential customers, representing Bombardier’s product quality and performance standards.
  • Performing mandatory Customer Acceptance flights.
  • Carrying out necessary Ferry flights as required by operations.
  • Managing all mandated pre-flight and post-flight activities with precision and adherence to established protocols.
  • Contributing to the review of operational manuals and technical documentation.
  • Being prepared to support extended periods, including the weekend schedule, as operational demands necessitate.
  • Providing support to the Bombardier Flight Test Center when required.

Qualifications and Requirements

To thrive in this critical Flight Operations role, candidates must demonstrate exceptional piloting skills, technical expertise, and professional maturity:

  • Possession of a valid Canadian Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
  • Current Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • A minimum of 3,500 hours of total flight time, including at least 500 hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) on large multi-engine aircraft.
  • Mandatory possession of the right to work and live permanently in Canada.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to manage irregular hours and the requirement to travel on short notice.
  • Exceptional leadership capability, including the ability to execute the duties of an Aircraft Commander while maintaining positive, cooperative relationships with flight crew and management.
  • Proven ability to manage and maintain composure during stressful operational situations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in working collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications.

Highly Desirable Assets

  • Previous professional flight test experience.
  • A strong technical background in aircraft certification or training.
  • Possession of a United States Airline Transport Pilot License (US ATP).
