Position Summary

Reporting to the 703/704 Chief Pilot, the Medevac Captain is responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional transport of patients and passengers. The Captain must maintain an intimate mechanical knowledge of the aircraft, adhere to evolving industry regulations, and collaborate effectively with flight crews and flight followers to ensure seamless Medevac operations. All pilots must meet or exceed Transport Canada qualification standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct flights in strict accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, Canadian Aviation Regulations, the Aircraft Flight Manual, and the Company Operations Manual.
  • Perform pre-flight calculations, including Operational Flight Plans, weather analysis, NOTAM review, fuel and oil requirements, and weight and balance.
  • Complete and sign the Manifest and Journey Log entries.
  • Execute thorough pre-flight and post-flight aeroplane inspections.
  • Lift, load, and secure patients, cargo, baggage, and freight.
  • Brief passengers according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Assist medical crews as required and appropriate.
  • Perform Type B and Type C flight watch duties.
  • Confirm the whereabouts of the aircraft when away from base and record all flight times and defects.
  • Actively participate in the company’s Safety Management System.
  • Maintain and exceed Transport Canada qualification standards.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Commercial Pilot License.
  • Category 1 Medical.
  • Current Group 1 Instrument Rating.
  • 1,500 hours total flight time, including 500 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC).
  • ATPL required for 703/704 Medevac Captain positions.
  • Canadian citizenship or unrestricted ability to work in Canada.
  • Fluency in English with effective verbal and listening comprehension skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain applicable transportation security clearances.
  • Successful completion of a Child Abuse Registry check and Criminal Record check.
  • Valid passport and valid driver’s license.
  • Thorough knowledge of aviation regulations.
  • Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training is considered an asset.

Working Conditions
