V2X is seeking a responsible and detail-oriented Plane Captain to join its team at NAS Whiting Field, supporting the Advanced Helicopter Training System (AHTS). The Plane Captain performs a vital role in ensuring the operational readiness and safety of training helicopters. This includes performing pre-flight and post-flight inspections, conducting routing maintenance, and overseeing ground handling procedures. This position is essential for supporting safe and effective training missions for Navy and Marine Corps pilots.
The Plane Captain provides line services in support of flight operations. These services include servicing, cleaning, fueling, defueling, blade wash, moving, securing, launching, and recovering aircraft. The role requires operation of self-propelled ground equipment during daily routines, primarily in an outdoor environment.
The Plane Captain must complete a training program and be certified in writing as a Plane Captain, with required re-qualification semi-annually. The use of hazardous materials may be required in the performance of assigned duties. Limited use of hand tools, normally including screwdrivers, flashlights, and tools necessary to assist with engine rinses and aircraft washes, is expected.
The individual must display a good working knowledge of assigned aircraft and servicing requirements, as well as a strong understanding of inspection requirements and Company instructions. Successful completion of a Government approved Plane Captain Certification Program for the specific aircraft type is mandatory.
The Plane Captain must be able to read, speak, write legibly, and understand the English language.
The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment with little or no physical discomfort to one where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, and rain. The position may require working in areas with high noise hazards and potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or electrical shock hazards.
This role involves climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, extensive walking, and working in tiring uncomfortable positions. It may require lifting objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds.
