Job Overview
As a Flight Instructor, the incumbent will be responsible for delivering high-quality FAA Part 61 flight, simulator, and ground instruction. This role involves guiding students through Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, and Commercial Pilot certifications, ensuring they meet or exceed Airman Certification Standards. The position also includes supporting non-primary students when their regular instructor is unavailable to ensure continuous learning and progress. The Flight Instructor will actively participate in student onboarding, scheduling, aircraft logistics (towing, parking, fueling), aircraft cleanliness, and contributing innovative ideas to the Chief Flight Instructor.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide flight, simulator, and ground instruction in strict adherence to FAA Part 61 regulations.
- Conduct initial consultations with prospective students to introduce the facility, policies, and training programs.
- Master and implement the flight school's curriculum and Training Course Outlines.
- Maintain meticulous and current student records, both digital and in logbooks, to ensure FAA Part 61 compliance.
- Uphold course standards, training requirements, and learning objectives for all training programs.
- Facilitate the onboarding process and scheduling for new students.
- Ensure students adhere to the Twin Cities Flight Safety Procedures and Practices Manual.
- Provide constructive feedback on student progress and tailor suggestions for individual improvement.
- Monitor and report on aircraft status and operational functions, noting and communicating any discrepancies.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and presentability of training aircraft.
- Contribute to the upkeep of a clean and conducive training environment.
- Stay current with all relevant FAA regulations, training requirements, Advisory Circulars, and airport operations.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

- Proactively arrange student stage checks to facilitate efficient progression through the curriculum.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to all students.
- Collaborate with fellow instructors and staff to foster a supportive environment and deliver valuable services.
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings and mandatory standardization training sessions.
- Actively participate in digital staff platforms to stay informed about facility updates, aircraft status, announcements, curriculum changes, and staff events.
- Verify that all required student and renter documentation is on file prior to commencing flight instruction.
Minimum Requirements
- Possession of an unexpired FAA Airplane Single-Engine Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate, Instrument (CFII) rating is preferred. (Note: The Instrument rating requirement may be waived based on current company needs.)
- Valid FAA 3rd Class Medical Certificate.
- Ability to satisfactorily complete initial and recurrent flight evaluations with the Chief Flight Instructor as required by 14 CFR 141.
- Demonstrate satisfactory ground and flight knowledge proficiency to the Chief Flight Instructor for each course.
- Willingness to participate in the company's drug and alcohol testing program.
Compensation
Salary: $25 - $30 per hour
