The Opportunity
Based in Bolton, Ontario, this permanent Helicopter Pilot position offers a unique opportunity to join TC Energy's flight operations team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in delivering essential aerial services, supporting TC Energy's extensive infrastructure across Canada and the USA. This includes diverse flying opportunities such as aerial support for pipeline patrols and personnel transport.
Key Responsibilities
The Helicopter Pilot will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of all flight operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Serving as Pilot in Command (PIC) or delegating as directed by the Base Manager or Chief Pilot.
- Ensuring the operation and safety of the helicopter, along with the safety and security of all persons involved during flight operations.
- Facilitating effective liaison with the company's lines of business to determine flight operation requirements and deliver necessary helicopter-related expertise.
- Conducting comprehensive safety briefings, including instruction on aircraft safety and survival equipment location, and emergency use techniques.
- Executing meticulous pre-flight planning for each day's patrol schedule.
- Managing safe aircraft configuration, including adherence to all-up-weight load-limit specifications and proper loading and securement of cargo.
- Performing essential administrative tasks at obligatory intervals, such as recording flight duty times, managing aircraft document revision control, and handling expense and time sheet management.
- Supporting hangar-related tasks as required.
- Actively participating in the Company's Safety Management System (SMS) by regularly reporting hazards and incidents and assisting in corrective action follow-up processes.
- Demonstrating flexibility and willingness to work away from base for extended periods, up to three weeks.
- Adjusting regular work schedules on short notice for emergency circumstances.
- Adhering strictly to TC Energy’s code of conduct, embracing inclusiveness, and fostering a workplace free from harassment.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must possess the following:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A valid Class 1 Aviation Medical Certificate.
- A valid Commercial (or higher) Canadian Pilot License with a minimum of 4,000 flight hours on turbine-powered helicopters.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a two-crew environment.
- A Restricted Radiotelephone Operator License.
- Comfort and proficiency in low-level operations, particularly for patrol duties.
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
Preferred Qualifications and Assets
The following qualifications are highly advantageous:
- Experience on AS350B3, H125, BH206 L4, or BH206 Jetranger aircraft types.
- Recent "Flying in the Wires" training.
- Thorough knowledge of Canadian Air Regulations, with significant experience flying in Canadian remote and high-density airspace.
- Experience conducting pipeline line patrols.
- A solid aviation knowledge base, including weather reporting, GPS and electronic mapping navigational techniques, weather minima, and aircraft radio communication.
- Comfort and proficiency working with modern electronic systems and document control.
- Well-developed communication, public relations, and documentation writing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and decisiveness in stressful and emergency situations.
- First aid training.
- A clean safety record (no accidents or incidents).
Additional Requirements
This position mandates candidates to:
- Possess current, valid authorization for international travel (including, but not limited to, Canada, USA, and Mexico).
- Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing.
- Maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review.
- Travel to other company locations, with overnight stays away from home base estimated for up to 50% of the work schedule.
- Possess, or be eligible to receive, a valid passport and maintain travel eligibility for domestic, cross-border, and international travel.
- Undergo criminal background checks.
- Be available for variable work days, including weekends.
