Childcare Program Assistant - Aviation Program
Aviation organization seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Childcare Program Assistant to support the development and well-being of children within its programs. This role is integral to fostering a nurturing and engaging environment for youth, aligning with the organization's commitment to community and family support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in leading educational, enrichment, and recreational activities for students under the direction of the Assistant Site Supervisor.
- Contribute innovative ideas for program activities and special events.
- Facilitate learning through teaching new games, conducting engaging activities, and promoting positive sportsmanship.
- Effectively observe and manage student behavior, adhering to program procedures and maintaining clear, age-appropriate expectations.
- Demonstrate sound judgment, fairness, and consistency in all interactions.
- Report student progress and any concerns promptly to the Assistant Site Supervisor.
- Maintain a high level of awareness and sensitivity to the individual needs of children, prioritizing their physical and emotional safety and supporting social skill development.
- Uphold a standard of kindness and respect towards all children and families.
- Model exemplary behavior and positive decision-making, emphasizing respect for all individuals and property.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety protocols, including emergency preparedness and evacuation strategies.
- Report all injuries and incidents to the Assistant Site Supervisor immediately.
- Assist with the setup and cleanup of activity spaces, equipment, and daily preparations.
- Support adult staff in various daily functions as needed.
- Maintain accurate headcounts of assigned children at all times.
- Recognize signs of child abuse and understand responsibilities as a mandated reporter.
- Understand the definition of and identify signs of bullying.
- Ensure the confidentiality of all information pertaining to program children and their families.
- Participate actively in on-site staff meetings and maintain professional communication via email with the Assistant Supervisor and Assistant Director.
- Provide homework support during designated "Homework Time" programs, where applicable.
- Communicate effectively with both staff and children to facilitate group management and optimize space utilization.
- Execute all duties with accuracy, thoroughness, and a strong sense of follow-through.
- Undertake any other relative duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of six months of experience working or volunteering with children in an organized setting is preferred.
- Current enrollment in early childhood education classes is beneficial, though not strictly required.
- Demonstrated aptitude for the tasks associated with the role.
- A genuine passion for working with children and collaborating with colleagues.
- Exceptional flexibility and a collaborative spirit.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, supportive environment that promotes student growth.
- Alternative degrees or experience may be considered at the discretion of the Director for exceptionally strong candidates.
