Pilot in Command (Captain)
Position Summary
Thrive Aviation is seeking a highly skilled and professional Pilot in Command (PIC) or Captain to lead safe and efficient ground and in-flight operations. This pivotal role is responsible for exceeding customer expectations, fostering clear and effective communication with leadership, team members, and dispatch, and upholding the highest standards of aviation safety. The successful Captain will act as a mentor and leader to First Officers, cultivating a culture of insight, prestige, and authenticity within the flight crew.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Pilot in Command will perform a comprehensive range of duties, including but not limited to:
- Serve as the primary administrative point of contact to the Chief Pilot.
- Bear ultimate responsibility for the safe and efficient ground and in-flight operation of the assigned aircraft.
- Verify the identification of all passengers prior to boarding the aircraft.
- Ensure the pre-flight checklist is meticulously completed before each flight.
- Provide training and mentorship to First Officers on assigned flights and aircraft, fostering professional growth.
- Proactively anticipate and strive to exceed the needs and expectations of Thrive Aviation's discerning customers.
- Maintain strict compliance with all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, Thrive Aviation's General Operations Manual (GOM), Operational Specifications, and departmental operating procedures.
- Sustain continuous and effective communication and coordination with the assigned flight crew, dispatch, maintenance personnel, and administrative teams.
- Undertake other duties as assigned by management or senior leadership to support operational objectives.
Requirements
Physical Requirements
The Pilot in Command must meet specific physical demands essential for successfully performing the required duties:
- Possess and maintain a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Ability to maintain a seated position comfortably within a confined space for extended periods.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
Work Environment
The work environment for a Flight Crew position presents unique characteristics and demands:
- Regular interaction with customers and other flight crew members within a confined aircraft cabin.
- Requirement to spend several days away from the home base each week for scheduled operations.
- Exposure to irregular work hours, including potential on-call duties for flights or notifications of schedule changes with minimal notice.
Experience and Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Prospective Captains must demonstrate the following essential qualifications:
- West Coast basing preferred, demonstrating flexibility for operational needs.
- A minimum of 3,000 hours of total fixed-wing flight time.
- At least 1,500 hours of Pilot in Command (PIC) total time.
- A minimum of 500 hours of total turbine engine flight time.
- Possession of a valid and unexpired U.S. Passport.
- A valid Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate.
- A valid FCC Radiotelephone Operator Permit (FCC Radio License).
- A current and valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
- Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and embrace new challenges as the company expands.
- Eligibility to fly internationally into any country or jurisdiction without restrictions.
- Current residency within, or within two hours of, a major airport.
Preferred Qualifications (in addition to Thrive Aviation's minimum requirements)
- Previous experience in corporate aviation or Part 135 charter operations.
- A current type rating for aircraft within the Thrive Aviation fleet.
