About the Role
The Senior Test Pilot will play a critical role in the testing and certification of a groundbreaking new class of all-electric aircraft. As an integral member of the Flight Test team, this individual will collaborate closely with fellow Test Pilots, Flight Test Engineers, systems engineers, and the certification group to validate and verify the revolutionary aircraft design. Wisk acknowledges the unique certification path for Urban Air Mobility (UAM) vehicles and is seeking experienced flight test professionals to contribute to an efficient and effective certification process.
This position requires an onsite presence at the Hollister, CA flight test facility. Occasional travel to offsite test locations and training facilities will be necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive test plans adhering to Safety Management System (SMS) processes, including the completion of Test Hazard Analyses.
- Support the scheduling of flight test programs.
- Execute flight test missions as a qualified Test Pilot.
- Author and finalize test reports to meet the stringent standards of certification authorities.
- Contribute to the writing and revision of essential program documents, such as Aircraft Flight Manuals and Standard Operating Procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Test Pilot or Flight Test Engineer in the flight testing of fixed-wing or rotary-wing aircraft, or similarly complex aerospace systems.
- Alternatively, a minimum of 7 years of experience in the aviation industry with a proven record of critical thinking and data analysis.
- Possession of an FAA Commercial Pilot or Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate (Fixed or Rotary Wing).
- Minimum FAA Second Class Medical certificate.
- A Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant engineering or technical field.
- The ability to collaborate effectively within the engineering organization to influence vehicle design early in the development process.
- Demonstrated experience in relating engineering data to operational use cases.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience conducting flight tests on programs pursuing FAA, TCCA, or EASA certification.
- Flight test experience with unmanned aircraft.
- Experience flying turbine-driven helicopters.
- Experience with electric propulsion system testing.
- Both fixed-wing and rotary-wing flight test experience.
- Experience in human-to-vehicle interface design, testing, and evaluation.
- Formal formation flying training.
- A Master's degree in a relevant engineering or technical field.
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes.
