Position Summary

The Senior Captain is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Swagelok-owned aircraft while providing the highest levels of customer service to passengers. Reporting to the Aviation Operations Manager, the Senior Captain serves as the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) for Gulfstream G600 and G280 aircraft, holding final authority in flight operations to ensure compliance with all regulations and company policies. This role involves both flight duties and administrative responsibilities within Flight Operations. Up to 50% travel may be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) or second-in-command (SIC) of Gulfstream G600 and G280 aircraft.
  • Provide adaptive and conscientious customer service to passengers.
  • Contribute to the growth of the Flight Operation’s Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Supervise crewmembers, delegate responsibilities, and monitor performance during flight.
  • Manage preflight and postflight inspections, including security, cleanliness, and provisioning.
  • Analyze weather conditions, calculate fuel requirements, and manage performance and weight and balance.
  • Prepare flight plans, logs, and briefing packets; utilize company and manufacturer checklists.
  • Make critical decisions regarding flight status, including delays, cancellations, or route deviations.
  • Maintain training currency, collaborate with aircraft schedulers, and communicate maintenance needs.
  • Manage and participate in Flight Operations administrative programs and projects.

Position Requirements

  • FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) license.
  • Type rating in the Gulfstream G600 and/or G280 (500 hours in type preferred).
  • 2,500 hours total time; 1,000 hours Pilot-in-Command; 1,000 hours turbine time.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
  • Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate, U.S. passport, and U.S. driver’s license.
  • International Flight Procedures training.
  • COVID-19 vaccination and no restrictions on international travel.
  • Must reside within a one-hour drive of the Swagelok hangar.

Preferred Qualifications

  • International piloting experience in Europe, South America, and Asia.

Skills and Knowledge

Candidates must demonstrate extensive knowledge of corporate flight department operations, specifically regarding long-range international aircraft. Key competencies include excellent verbal and written communication, team leadership, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and risk mitigation. High degree of computer literacy and familiarity with aircraft technical libraries is required.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

The incumbent must be able to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA and other federal, state, and local standards. This includes the ability to maintain regular attendance and the physical capacity to safely carry and hoist baggage on and off the aircraft.
