Compensation and Benefits

Compensation Range: $125,000 - $145,000

Job Summary

The Pilot in Command (PIC) is fundamentally responsible for the safe, efficient, and comfortable operation of Sun Air Jets aircraft, ensuring on-time performance. This role operates under Part 135/91 regulations and requires the PIC to reside within a 2.5 to 3-hour radius of Camarillo (KCMA). The PIC will serve as captain for assigned trips, dedicated to professionally meeting Sun Air Jets client travel needs with a focus on excellence in all performance aspects. Exceptional communication and customer service skills are essential, as is the ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. The PIC will also fly with the owner, who is typed and PIC qualified, at times.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Unrestricted FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with Multi-engine Land rating and English Proficiency endorsement. BE300 Type Rating is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3,000 hours Total Time.
  • Minimum of 1,000 hours Multi-Engine time.
  • Minimum of 1,000 hours Jet/Turbine time.
  • FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
  • First Class Medical Certificate.
  • US Citizenship or proof of the right to work in the US for any employer.
  • Current US Passport.
  • No reported accidents, incidents, or enforcement actions.
  • No DUI/DWI convictions.
  • Ability to conduct Part 135 flights in and out of Canada.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including holidays and weekends.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide without restriction.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure strict compliance with all governing regulations, including Sun Air Jets company manuals, policies, and operations specifications.
  • Exercise sound judgment in the safe and efficient operation of all flights.
  • Lead decision-making processes critical to the safe operation of Sun Air Jets aircraft.
  • Accurately assess flight environments, identifying and mitigating operational threats and errors.
  • Facilitate timely exchange of information, ideas, and instructions within the crew.
  • Manage tasks to optimize overall crew performance and synergy.
  • Promote teamwork, professionalism, and mentorship in all aspects of responsibilities.
  • Directly participate in the approved Professional Pilot Development (PDP) Program (A062).
  • Foster a safe and collaborative cockpit environment, mentoring junior crew members.
  • Successfully complete all required company and FAA proficiency checks and recurrent training.
  • Represent Sun Air Jets positively, upholding company policies and image.
  • Actively engage in the company's Aviation Safety Management System (SMS), promoting open communication regarding safety matters and reporting all hazards and concerns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Pilot and/or Assistant Chief Pilot.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent written, verbal, mathematical, analytical, and aeronautical decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to react effectively during emergencies and irregular operations.
  • Capacity for logical thinking and rapid comprehension of complex concepts.

Working Environment & Physical Demands

Lifting/Carrying: Capability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds routinely, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Flight crews undergo recurrent training with CAE/Flight Safety every six months.

Sun Air Jets operates a global fleet and holds esteemed certifications including Wyvern Wingman, ARGUS Platinum, and IS-BAO audits.
