As Chief Flight Instructor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of aviators. This multifaceted role involves both ensuring the delivery of high-quality flight instruction and providing mentorship and oversight to the flight instructor staff. The ideal candidate is a decisive leader with a strong understanding of FAR regulations and proven experience managing a university flight program, ideally in a Chief or Assistant Chief Instructor capacity.
Responsibilities:
- Champion Training Excellence: Certify all training records, graduation certificates, stage and final test reports, and student recommendations. Conduct stage and final tests, ensuring adherence to the highest standards.
- Lead Instructor Development: Conduct initial and annual recurrent proficiency checks for flight instructors, ensuring compliance with all FAR requirements. Continuously monitor and provide constructive feedback on instructor performance.
- Orchestrate Flight Training Operations: Oversee flight training activities, including scheduling and dispatch for students, instructors, and aircraft. Track student progress and remain accessible for guidance and consultation.
- Maintain Regulatory Currency: Stay abreast of evolving regulations and procedural changes within the flight training landscape. Review, update, and ensure the accessibility of all training materials to reflect current standards.
- Foster Collaboration and Communication: Lead staff meetings, engage with prospective students and their families, and maintain positive working relationships with airport officials and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Qualifications:
- Proven experience managing a university flight program.
- Must meet the requirements outlined in FAR 141.35 or 141.36.
