Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) Recruitment at Sterling Flight Training
Sterling Flight Training is currently recruiting highly qualified and experienced aviation professionals for a pivotal role within its instructional staff. The institution is seeking candidates who demonstrate exceptional dedication to flight safety and possess proven experience in delivering instruction within a structured training environment. Successful applicants will be responsible for upholding the highest standards of flight training in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 141.
Minimum Professional Qualifications
Candidates must hold the following current and valid FAA licenses and certifications:
- Commercial Pilot License (CPL)
- Instrument Rating (IR)
- Multi-Engine Endorsement (ME)
- Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) Certificate
- Current FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate
Required Flight Time and Instructional Experience
Applicants must meet rigorous flight hour requirements, including substantial Pilot-in-Command (PIC) time and documented instructional experience:
- A minimum of 1,000 hours of Pilot-in-Command (PIC) time is mandatory.
- The candidate must possess at least 50 hours of flight time acquired under actual or simulated instrument conditions.
Specific Instructional Experience Requirements:
Candidates must meet one of the following criteria for both Instrument and General Flight Training:
Instrument Instruction Experience:
Must demonstrate either:
- A minimum of 1 year and 125 flight hours acquired as a Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument (CFII) or as an instructor in a recognized military pilot flight training program, OR
- A minimum of 200 total flight hours of instrument instruction given.
Total Flight Instruction Experience:
Must demonstrate either:
- A minimum of 1.5 years and 500 flight hours acquired as a CFI or as an instructor in a recognized military pilot flight training program, OR
- A minimum of 750 total flight hours of flight instruction given.
Regulatory Compliance and Testing Requirements
The successful candidate must fully comply with all applicable requirements of FAR 141.36 for instructing recreational, private, commercial, multi-engine, and instrument students. Type rating is not a prerequisite for this position as specific training will be provided by Sterling Flight Training.
Testing Proficiency:
Applicants must successfully pass comprehensive testing administered by the institution:
- Knowledge Test: Must pass a knowledge test focused on teaching methodologies relevant to the applicable provisions of the Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), FAR Parts 61, 91, and 141, including the objectives and approved course completion standards for approved Part 141 courses.
- Proficiency Test: Must pass a proficiency test demonstrating exceptional instructional skills and the ability to effectively train students on all requisite flight procedures and maneuvers.
