Peer Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Aviation Tutor
State Technical College of Missouri seeks a dedicated and knowledgeable Peer Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Aviation Tutor to join its Academic Resource Center (ARC). This part-time, temporary position is designed to provide essential academic support to students pursuing technical education in aviation fields. The tutor will play a crucial role in fostering student success by offering guidance, resources, and a positive learning environment.
Position Details
This is a three-month, part-time engagement, offering up to 10 hours per week. Flexible scheduling is available, with potential hours between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM on Friday.
Key Responsibilities
The Peer A&P Aviation Tutor will be responsible for a range of academic support functions, including:
- Providing comprehensive tutoring to students on both a drop-in and scheduled basis, specializing in Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) subjects.
- Accurately tracking and documenting the services provided by the Academic Resource Center (ARC).
- Offering direct assistance and support to users of the ARC, ensuring a productive learning environment.
- Facilitating access to and providing relevant learning resources as needed to enhance student comprehension.
- Cultivating and maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with ARC staff members.
- Actively promoting ARC services to students, faculty, and staff to maximize utilization and impact.
- Performing other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the overall mission of the ARC.
Required Qualifications
Prospective candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to academic excellence and possess the following qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled at State Technical College of Missouri throughout the period of employment.
- Achieved a grade of B or higher in Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) coursework, or currently be enrolled in A&P and maintain good standing in the class, accompanied by a recommendation from the instructor.
- Demonstrated ability to read, comprehend, and interpret simple instructions, short correspondence, and internal memos.
- Exceptional ability to effectively present complex technical information and concepts in one-on-one and group settings to a diverse audience, including students, faculty, administration, and staff of State Technical College of Missouri.
- Possess a strong command of the English language, including superior spelling and grammar skills, with a particular aptitude for technical subjects.
- Previous experience with and/or a deep understanding of technical education programs, especially within the aviation sector.
