Position Summary
The Human Resources Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting the full spectrum of HR functions, ensuring the seamless operation of talent management initiatives. This position is central to fostering a positive employee experience, driving HR best practices, and supporting Skyservice's strategic objectives through effective human capital management. The incumbent will act as a key point of contact for employees and management, contributing significantly to a supportive and productive workplace culture within the fast-paced aviation sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Manages various aspects of the employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to offboarding processes.
- Provides comprehensive support for talent acquisition efforts, including job posting, candidate screening, interview coordination, and offer management.
- Administers employee benefits programs, ensuring accurate enrollment, communication, and issue resolution.
- Assists in developing, implementing, and interpreting HR policies and procedures in alignment with Canadian labour laws and aviation industry regulations.
- Supports employee relations activities, including conflict resolution, performance management, and disciplinary actions, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR information systems, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Coordinates HR-related training and development initiatives for staff and management.
- Contributes to HR projects and initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, employee engagement, and organizational development.
- Prepares HR reports and analytics to support decision-making and strategic planning.
- Ensures compliance with all relevant provincial and federal employment legislation.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in a Human Resources Generalist or Specialist role, preferably within the aviation, transportation, or a similarly regulated industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian employment law, specifically Ontario Labour Standards Act.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust at all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in HR information systems (HRIS) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proven ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost discretion and confidentiality.
- A CHRP/CHRL designation or candidacy is considered a significant asset.
