This role plays a vital part in maintaining SkyWest's commitment to on-time performance and the highest standards of operational safety and customer service.
Position Overview
The Aviation Training Specialist will work collaboratively with the Manager of Airport Operations Training to develop and deliver engaging learning experiences for Airport Operations employees. This full-time position encompasses a blend of computer-based and classroom instruction, covering a diverse range of topics including eCampus modules, CRO classes, and soft skills development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement innovative and effective computer-based and classroom training programs for Airport Operations functions.
- Deliver engaging and informative instruction that ensures comprehension and retention of essential policies, procedures, and FAA/TSA regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, incorporating updates into training materials and communicating changes effectively.
- Continuously evaluate training programs and individual student performance, providing constructive feedback and reporting any concerns to the appropriate parties.
- Collaborate with station trainers and Station Managers to ensure consistency in training delivery and adherence to department philosophy.
- Maintain accurate class records and submit timely reports to the Administrative Assistant.
- Embrace a safety-first culture, emphasizing safety protocols throughout all training phases and observing for adherence during station visits.
- Assist with special projects and programs as needed for the Customer Service Department and other departments.
- Provide on-site training and support to stations as needed, including during periods of limited staffing and station openings/closings.
- Travel to stations for on-the-job training and instruction as required.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Minimum of two years of experience in an airline customer service role or a training-focused position.
- Strong preference for candidates with supervisory or managerial experience.
- Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills, with a strong emphasis on quality and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proven team player with exceptional interpersonal skills and a positive, people-oriented approach.
- Highly self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong computer proficiency, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Typing speed of at least 30 words per minute.
- Familiarity with customer service principles and SkyWest's operational philosophy.
- Comprehensive knowledge of all policies outlined in station and operations manuals.
- Up-to-date understanding of all applicable FAA/TSA regulations and federal mandates.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience developing and facilitating learning experiences.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Flash, or other development software.
Compensation:
$37,000 - $42,000 per year, based on years of service with SkyWest Airlines.
