The Lead Captain will ensure the safety of all passengers, aircraft, and crew. Their responsibilities encompass reviewing maintenance status, conducting pre-flight inspections, adhering to all Silver Air policies and Federal Aviation Regulations, and planning and executing flight operations including flight planning, fuel management, and weight and balance calculations. Additionally, the Lead Captain will perform thorough checks of weather and facilities along the flight route and at alternate airports, and accurately complete all trip paperwork.
The Lead Captain will also serve as an Aviation Resource Manager (ARM), acting as a liaison between the Aircraft Owner and various Silver Air departments, ensuring efficient aircraft operation aligned with the overall management plan. This includes mentoring team members, understanding the aircraft's management plan, collaborating with maintenance, ensuring the aircraft is mission ready, partnering with People and Culture on crewing activities, and providing training on best practices.
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a minimum of 3500 total flight hours with 3000 hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC), 3000 multi-engine hours with 2000 as PIC, and preferably 1750 total turbine hours. Candidates need 200 total hours in the specific aircraft type with 100 hours as PIC and a CE-525 type rating or comparable. They must hold a valid First Class Medical Certificate. While previous Part 135 experience is preferred, it is not mandatory. The successful candidate must be compliant with ICAO Annex I - 2.1.1.0 for international commercial air transport operations with multiple pilots and must be able to obtain and maintain CANPASS authorization for travel to/from Canada.
The Lead Captain will work as part of a dedicated three-pilot team, which includes a Captain and First Officer, assigned to a specific tail number and aircraft type, supported by a comprehensive Flight Management and Support team.
