The SAS Pilot Profile

Candidates are evaluated against the SAS Pilot Profile, which assesses holistic suitability, trainability, and professional conduct. Successful applicants must demonstrate:

  • Professional application of knowledge and procedures
  • Situational awareness and sound judgment
  • Effective communication skills
  • Proficiency in workload and stress management
  • Advanced problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Leadership, teamwork, and self-awareness

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid EASA Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • Valid EASA CPL(A) or MPL.
  • ICAO English Language Proficiency Level 5 or 6.
  • Completed MCC course.
  • Unrestricted right to live and work in the EU.
  • Clean criminal record.
  • A minimum of 400 hours on CS/FAR 25 aircraft.
  • Licenses and medical certificates must be current at the time of application.
  • Preference given to licenses issued by Denmark, Sweden, or Norway; non-Scandinavian EASA licenses are accepted but require conversion prior to course commencement.

Recruitment Process

The recruitment process is structured to evaluate candidates through several stages, each of which may be disqualifying:

  1. CV and document screening
  2. Video interview
  3. Online interview with an SAS representative
  4. Online cognitive and personality assessments
  5. Assessment Day (including group exercise, simulator session, and interview)
  6. Final checks: Background screening, security interview, and drug & alcohol testing

Base Information and Recruitment Timeline

SAS is currently recruiting for all bases:

  • BGO (Bergen): E195
  • ARN (Stockholm): A320
  • OSL (Oslo): E195 and A320
  • CPH (Copenhagen): E195 and A320

Applications are reviewed continuously. The current recruitment cycle supports operations for summer 2027, with initial training courses scheduled for Fall 2026. Due to limited monthly assessment capacity, candidates should anticipate a multi-stage process.

Reapplication Policy

Candidates who were not invited to an Assessment Day may reapply at any time. Candidates who previously attended an Assessment Day but were unsuccessful must wait 24 months before reapplying.
