First Officer Opportunity at SAS - Scandinavian Airlines

SAS - Scandinavian Airlines System is seeking newly graduated cadets to embark on their professional aviation careers. This role is designed for pilots with limited or no airline experience who demonstrate a commitment to professional growth within a safety-driven, structured environment. Successful candidates will benefit from comprehensive training and mentorship in accordance with Scandinavian aviation standards.

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid EASA Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • Valid EASA CPL(A) or MPL license.
  • ICAO English Language Proficiency Level 5 or 6.
  • Completed Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) course.
  • Unrestricted right to live and work in the European Union.
  • Clean criminal record.
  • Note: Licenses and medical certificates must be valid at the time of application. Licenses preferably issued by Denmark, Sweden, or Norway; non-Scandinavian EASA licenses are accepted provided they are converted prior to course commencement.

SAS Pilot Profile

SAS evaluates candidates based on the SAS Pilot Profile, which prioritizes overall suitability and trainability over technical flying skills alone. Candidates are expected to demonstrate:

Base Information

SAS is currently recruiting for the following bases:

  • BGO: E195
  • ARN: A320
  • OSL: E195 and A320
  • CPH: E195 and A320

Recruitment Process

The selection process includes the following stages, with each step potentially being disqualifying:

  • CV and document screening.
  • Video interview.
  • Online interview with an SAS representative.
  • Online cognitive and personality assessments.
  • Assessment Day (incorporating group exercises, simulator sessions, and interviews).
  • Final background screenings, security interviews, and mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

  • Progress check reports (IFR, VFR, MCC).
  • ATPL theory results (if completed).

Applications are reviewed on a continuous basis for courses beginning in Fall 2026 and Summer 2027. Candidates who have previously attended an Assessment Day but were unsuccessful must wait 24 months before reapplying.

Terms and Conditions

All employment offers are subject to the successful completion of background checks, license validation, and security vetting. Salary levels are governed by collective agreements and are non-negotiable. SAS reserves the right to adjust recruitment processes and base availability based on operational requirements. Placement in a pilot holding pool does not guarantee an immediate start date or specific base/fleet allocation.
