Lead Pilot in Command

Aviation professional sought for the position of Lead Pilot in Command (PIC) in Englewood, CO. This role commands responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of assigned aircraft, adhering strictly to all Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), company policies, and operational procedures. The Lead PIC will manage all facets of flight preparation and execution, including meticulous crew coordination, proactive risk management, and the provision of exceptional passenger service. The position requires demonstrated leadership, technical proficiency, and an unwavering dedication to safety and customer satisfaction. The Lead PIC holds final authority regarding all decisions concerning the aircraft and its operation. This position involves approximately 300 projected annual flight hours, with 250 hours allocated for owner flights and 50 hours for charter operations, conducted with a two-pilot crew.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Pilot in Command, assuming ultimate responsibility for the safe operation of the aircraft on all assigned flights. Ensure strict compliance with all FAA regulations, company flight operations manuals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-flight planning, including meticulous weather analysis, precise performance calculations, route planning, fuel management, and thorough aircraft airworthiness checks. All flight preparations must fully align with company and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain a high standard of crew coordination and communication during all phases of flight. Lead the crew in a professional, efficient, and cooperative manner, thereby fostering a robust culture of teamwork and safety.
  • Deliver the highest standard of customer service, ensuring the safety, comfort, and satisfaction of all passengers. Act as the primary point of contact for clients during the flight, addressing any concerns or requests.
  • Actively participate in the company’s Safety Management System (SMS), championing a proactive safety culture. Identify and mitigate risks through the application of risk analysis tools, and take part in safety audits and corrective action initiatives.
  • Mentor and guide First Officers and other members of the flight crew. Ensure all crew members understand their roles and responsibilities, providing clear guidance and feedback to encourage professional growth.
  • Complete all necessary post-flight documentation, which includes trip reports, logbook entries, and any maintenance or operational notes. Immediately report any safety concerns or equipment issues to the maintenance team.
  • Ensure all flight operations are fully compliant with FAA regulations, including maintaining currency with all required training, medical certifications, and company policies. Maintain up-to-date records for all flight crew.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5,000 total flight hours, including 2,500 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC).
  • 2,500 hours in multi-engine land aircraft, with 1,500 hours as multi-engine PIC.
  • 2,000 hours in turbine aircraft and 500 hours of instrument time.
  • Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with a multi-engine land rating.
  • Current First-Class Medical Certificate is required.
  • FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator’s Permit is preferred.
  • Demonstrable and comprehensive knowledge of FAA regulations, flight planning, and safety management systems.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to make reasoned decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency in the use of flight planning and aviation management software.
  • Prior experience in Part 135 operations is highly desirable.

This is an exempt position that requires flexibility to meet business demands.

Salary Range: $243,000.00 - $263,000.00
