Pilot in Command
The Pilot in Command (PIC) is entrusted with the safe and efficient operation of assigned aircraft. He or she ensures unwavering compliance with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), company policies, and operational procedures. The PIC expertly manages all facets of flight preparation and execution, encompassing diligent crew coordination, proactive risk management, and exceptional passenger service. This pivotal role demands exemplary leadership, comprehensive technical expertise, and an unwavering commitment to safety and customer satisfaction. The PIC serves as the ultimate authority on all decisions pertaining to the aircraft and its operation. The projected annual flight hours are 300 (250 owner/ 50 charter), flown with a two-pilot crew.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Flight Operations: Serve as the Pilot in Command, assuming ultimate responsibility for the safe operation of the aircraft on all assigned flights, ensuring adherence to all FAA regulations, company flight operations manuals, and standard operating procedures.
- Pre-flight Planning: Conduct meticulous pre-flight planning, encompassing detailed weather analysis, precise performance calculations, optimal routing, accurate fuel planning, and thorough aircraft airworthiness checks, ensuring alignment with company and regulatory standards.
- Crew Resource Management (CRM): Maintain superior crew coordination and clear communication throughout all phases of flight. Lead the crew in the professional, efficient, and cooperative execution of duties, cultivating a culture of teamwork and safety.
- Passenger Service: Deliver the highest caliber of customer service, ensuring the safety, comfort, and overall satisfaction of passengers. Act as the primary liaison for clients during flight, addressing any concerns or special requests with professionalism and attentiveness.
- Safety Management: Actively participate in the company’s Safety Management System (SMS), promoting a proactive safety culture. Identify and mitigate potential risks through the utilization of advanced risk analysis tools and contribute to safety audits and corrective action processes.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Mentor and guide First Officers and other flight crew members, ensuring a thorough understanding of roles and responsibilities, providing clear direction and constructive feedback to foster professional development.
- Post-flight Duties: Accurately complete all required post-flight documentation, including comprehensive trip reports, detailed logbook entries, and any relevant maintenance or operational notes. Promptly report any safety concerns or equipment issues to the maintenance team.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all flight operations remain in strict compliance with FAA regulations, maintaining currency with all required training, medical certifications, and company policies. Maintain up-to-date flight crew records.
Qualifications
Required or Preferred Qualifications:
- Flight Experience:
- Minimum 5000 total flight hours.
- 2500 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC).
- 2500 hours multi-engine land, with 1500 hours as multi-engine PIC.
- 2000 hours in turbine aircraft and 500 hours instrument time.
- Certifications:
- Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with multi-engine land rating required.
- Current First-Class Medical Certificate required.
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator’s Permit preferred.
- Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of FAA regulations, flight planning, and safety management systems.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the demonstrated ability to make sound, critical decisions under pressure.
- Proficient in the application of flight planning and aviation management software.
- Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience in Part 135 operations is highly desirable.
