Pilot in Command

The Pilot in Command is entrusted with the safe and efficient operation of flight assignments, prioritizing safety, security, and quality. Reporting to the Lead Captain regarding company operating policies and procedures, the Pilot in Command exercises ultimate authority for the safe conduct of each flight.
Main Responsibilities:
- Safely operate the aircraft, determining departure times and routes, and make decisions regarding flight cancellations based on weather or other conditions.
- Ensure strict compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Implement necessary changes due to en route conditions, ensuring flight continuation under appropriate company guidelines.
- Conduct flights in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all trip paperwork as required.
- Ensure a thorough and complete understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Record all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log, reporting them immediately to the Director of Maintenance or their designee. Determine if the inoperative item can be deferred or needs to be repaired and complete the aircraft discrepancy log as required.
- Ensure the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and is mentally and physically fit.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all aircraft systems, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, arranging hangar storage as needed or instructed by company management.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from an FAA flight service station or authorized agency.
- File a flight plan with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyze area, enroute, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternates.
- Perform the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the applicable security program.
- Conduct passenger safety briefings or delegate the duty to the Second in Command.
- Impart knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them for potential Pilot in Command duties in emergencies or future upgrades.
- Complete and send the leg manifest to ops control before each departure.
- Complete and send the End of Day (EOD) report to ops control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of information on all safety issues and report all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately report any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Delegate duties as needed, while retaining ultimate responsibility.
- Represent Jet Aviation as one company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies and the General Dynamics network.
- Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must possess an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Must obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- 4000 hours total fixed-wing flight time.
- 1500 hours multi-engine land flight time.
- 2000 hours Pilot-in-Command flight time.
- 1500 hours turbojet flight time.
- 1500 Turbine time.
- 100 hours night flight time.
- 75 hours actual or simulated instrument flight time.
- Five years of aviation experience.
- Must be able to work flexible schedules.
- Willing and able to travel worldwide extensively, without restrictions.
- Must have a valid driver's license.

Physical Demands:
The position requires the ability to use hands and fingers, stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds above their heads. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
Work Environment:
The work environment includes both heavy maintenance areas and upscale customer areas. The noise level is typically moderate, with occasional high volume during aircraft arrival/departure. The employee may be exposed to vibration and occasional fuel fumes. Willingness and ability to work in all types of weather conditions are required. The hangar environment may experience extreme temperatures.
Compensation:
The likely salary range for this position is $180,000 - $220,000. The final salary will be determined based on experience, geographic location, and other relevant factors.
