Pilot in Command (PIC) – Praetor 500
George J. Priester Aviation, a leading provider of exceptional 135-charter aviation services, seeks a highly skilled and experienced Pilot in Command to join our dynamic team. This position involves operating a Praetor 500 in a two-pilot flight department based in Wheeling, IL (PWK), with an estimated annual flight time of 300-350 hours.
Position Summary:
The Pilot in Command holds ultimate responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of assigned aircraft, adhering strictly to all Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), company policies, and operational procedures. This role encompasses all aspects of flight preparation and execution, including meticulous pre-flight planning, effective crew resource management, and superior passenger service. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, technical proficiency, and a unwavering commitment to safety and client satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Flight Operations: Serve as Pilot in Command, exercising final authority over all flight operations. Ensure unwavering compliance with all FAA regulations, company flight operations manuals, and standard operating procedures.
- Pre-flight Planning: Conduct comprehensive pre-flight planning, encompassing detailed weather analysis, precise performance calculations, optimal route selection, meticulous fuel planning, and thorough aircraft airworthiness checks. Maintain adherence to all company and regulatory standards.
- Crew Resource Management (CRM): Foster a culture of proactive teamwork and safety through exceptional crew coordination and communication across all flight phases. Provide clear direction and leadership to the flight crew.
- Passenger Service: Deliver exceptional customer service, prioritizing passenger safety, comfort, and satisfaction. Act as the primary point of contact for all client needs and concerns during flight operations.
- Safety Management: Actively participate in the company's Safety Management System (SMS), promoting a proactive safety culture. Utilize risk analysis tools to identify and mitigate potential hazards, and actively participate in safety audits and corrective action initiatives.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to First Officers and other flight crew members. Ensure all crew members fully understand their roles and responsibilities, fostering professional development through constructive feedback and clear direction.
- Post-flight Duties: Complete all necessary post-flight documentation, including comprehensive trip reports, accurate logbook entries, and detailed maintenance or operational notes. Promptly report any safety concerns or equipment malfunctions to the maintenance team.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain meticulous adherence to all FAA regulations, including current training, valid medical certifications, and company policies. Ensure all flight crew records are meticulously maintained and up-to-date.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Flight Experience:
- Minimum 5,000 total flight hours.
- 2,500 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC).
- 2,500 hours multi-engine land, with 1,500 hours as multi-engine PIC.
- 2,000 hours in turbine aircraft and 500 hours instrument time.
- Certifications:
- Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with multi-engine land rating.
- Current First-Class Medical Certificate.
- Skills:
- Comprehensive understanding of FAA regulations, flight planning principles, and safety management systems.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills with the ability to make sound, decisive judgments under pressure.
- Proficiency in utilizing flight planning and aviation management software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in Part 135 operations.
This is an exempt position requiring flexibility to meet the demands of the business.
