PlaneSense, Inc. is seeking highly qualified and motivated individuals for the position of PC-12 First Officer. This pivotal role involves assisting the Captain and serving as Second-In-Command of the aircraft, ensuring safe and efficient flight operations.

The First Officer provides critical support in decision-making, collaborating closely with the Captain across all flight operation phases, and demonstrates adaptability within an active and dynamic flight schedule. This position requires extensive knowledge of aviation weather, Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), international customs and immigration requirements, specific aircraft systems, and company policies and procedures. Thorough familiarity with operations in both Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and Visual Flight Rules (VFR) environments is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The PC-12 First Officer is responsible for, but not limited to, the following key functions:

  • Assisting the Captain in reviewing pre-flight weather briefings and Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs).
  • Verifying and cross-checking all flight information provided by the Flight Operations Center.
  • Ensuring full compliance with applicable FARs and PlaneSense, Inc. company policies and procedures.
  • Conducting comprehensive preflight aircraft inspections and ensuring overall aircraft cleanliness and readiness.
  • Updating navigation databases and aeronautical charts as required.
  • Obtaining IFR clearances and assisting with the loading of passenger luggage.
  • Providing a high-quality, professional customer service experience to all passengers.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for this position:

  • Commercial Pilot Certificate, Single Engine Land (SEL) with Instrument Rating.
  • Valid 1st or 2nd Class FAA Medical Certificate.
  • A minimum of 750 hours total flight time.
  • Demonstrated excellent IFR knowledge and superior Basic Attitude Instrument (BAI) flying ability.
  • Superior customer service and communication skills.
  • Current passport with unrestricted international travel privileges.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

Highly competitive candidates will possess the following attributes:

  • 1000 hours total flight time or greater.
  • 75+ hours of instrument time (for highly qualified consideration).
  • Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII) rating.

Highly Qualified Candidates

PlaneSense, Inc. seeks candidates who offer more than just minimum flight hours. Attributes defining a highly qualified candidate in our operation include, but are not limited to:

  • Significant experience in corporate or charter operations (Part 135 or Part 91 Subpart K).
  • Familiarity with Technically Advanced Aircraft (TAA) and advanced aircraft systems.
  • Extensive time in turbine aircraft, particularly the Pilatus PC-12.
  • A Bachelor’s degree.
  • A demonstrated history of leadership in aviation roles such as Safety Officer, Lead Flight Instructor, or Chief Pilot.
  • Military-trained pilots are highly valued, especially those with tactical or mission-oriented flight backgrounds, as they bring a high level of discipline and adaptability to dynamic flight environments.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The First Officer is frequently required to remain stationary and occasionally stand or walk, use hands and fingers to type, write, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific requirements include:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods (up to 12+ hours) in a confined cockpit.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate flight controls, avionics, and communication equipment.
  • Ability to reach, bend, and twist inside and outside of the aircraft cockpit.
  • Ability to lift, carry, bend, and turn with items weighing up to 100 pounds (e.g., flight bags, charts, passenger luggage, emergency equipment).
  • Ability to efficiently respond to in-flight situations and execute emergency procedures.

Work Environment

The First Officer must be able to perform all duties in various weather conditions and under significant time constraints. Regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, bright lights, fuel, de-ice/anti-ice fluids, and other HAZMAT classified items may occur. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate both verbally and in writing. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job:

  • Primarily within an aircraft cockpit, often in confined spaces with limited mobility.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, including turbulence and extreme temperatures during flights.
  • Frequent travel, including overnight layovers and irregular schedules (weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts).
  • High-altitude environment with changes in cabin pressure.
  • Long hours with potential for fatigue, always within FAA rest and duty regulations.
  • Constant interaction with co-pilots, crew members, air traffic controllers, and passengers is required.
