Wayman College of Aeronautics is South Florida's premier Part 141 flight school for international and local students. From their first hour of flight through Commercial Pilot and Certified Flight Instructor ratings, Wayman prepares students for careers in the airlines. The Academy is based at North Perry Airport and operates a fleet of more than 40 aircraft.
Wayman Aviation Academy partners with Florida Memorial University, Miami Dade College, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Liberty University, and the Greater Miami Aviation Association as well as 5 US and international airlines.
Summary
The certified Airframe & Power (A&P) will perform line maintenance to daily scheduled flight training aircraft and maintenance, scheduled & unscheduled (S&U), to the company fleet; the majority of Cessna and Piper aircraft. Perform S&U maintenance on outside customers' aircraft; the majority of Part 23 aircraft. Interact with pilots, maintenance personnel, and the aviation community to contribute to the company's aviation operations
Essential Functions
Adhere to industry safety standards & company safety protocols and procedures
Perform line and S&U maintenance to fleet as per Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, aircraft manufacturers airworthiness instructions, and by company policies and procedures
Troubleshoot & repair: airframe, engine, and electrical systems
Perform 50-hour, 100-hour, inspections and assist with annual inspections.
Complete aircraft logbook documentation, non-routine work cards, by required approved data and company procedures
Performs station administrative duties
Assist with, and /or, perform additional duties as required to facilitate aircraft maintenance operations
Cooperate with and assist Crew Lead & Supervisors with daily & project assignments
When required, assist with fuel truck operation, aircraft fueling, and line services
Clean, organize, and maintain maintenance facility for daily operations
Competencies
Must possess the ability to work independently
Strong communication skills are necessary
Physical Demands
Transport: Assisting in moving aircraft and equipment in & out of hanger; moving items up to 50lbs.
Basic shop upkeep (Sweeping, mopping, cleaning, etc.)
Stationary Position: Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
Move, traverse: The person in this position needs to move about the hangar
Position self, move: Must occasionally position self under small areas for extended periods.
Ascend/descend: Must be able to move up and down from ladders, work stands, and other heights.
Range of motion: Must be able to work with one or both hands extended overhead.
Work environment: Must be able to work in FL weather conditions; heat, rain, wind.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Full-time; 8-hour shift Monday - Friday
Must be able to work flexible hours, shifts, and some holidays
Travel
The ability to travel as needed is required.
Pay
Partially licensed (Airframe OR Powerplant); pay starts at $20 per hour and is and commensurate with experience
Fully licensed A&P pay starts at $25 per hour and is commensurate with experience
Licensed A&P w/IA; pay starts at $30 per hour and is commensurate with experience
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or general education degree GED required.
Must have a minimum of 3 years related experience and or training.
Must have an A&P License and FAA airframe & powerplant certification.
Basic computer skills required. Can legally work within the U.S.
Can speak, read, write, and understand English
Valid Driver license
Experience with general aviation (GA) aircraft; specifically, Cessna/Piper (at least 1 year)
Experience driving light/heavy trucks/vans preferred.
Detail-oriented with an aptitude for problem-solving and good record-keeping of performed activities
Preferred Education and Experience
5+ years aircraft maintenance experience OR similar mechanical experience, preferably with general aviation
Familiarity with all FAR and aviation standards
