Pilot-in-Command (PIC) - Executive Aviation
An esteemed and well-established aviation department is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pilot-in-Command (PIC) to join its professional flight operations team. This pivotal role involves leading a group of 15 pilots and 5 cabin attendants, operating a modern fleet of four executive aircraft. The PIC is instrumental in ensuring the highest standards of safety, comfort, and operational efficiency for all flights.
Key Responsibilities
- Serves as the ultimate authority and Pilot-in-Command for all assigned missions, prioritizing the paramount safety of passengers and crew while ensuring comfortable and timely aircraft operations.
- Provides expert leadership and supervision to the entire flight crew, meticulously ensuring that all flight and ground operations are conducted in strict compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Regulations.
- Strategically determines optimal flight parameters, including route, speed, and precise take-off and landing times, to meticulously fulfill demanding scheduling requirements.
- Engages proactively in comprehensive mission planning sessions, collaborating with trip coordinators and international handlers (as applicable), often initiating preparations days in advance of the scheduled flight.
- Exercises astute judgment and makes critical operational decisions regarding potential delays, necessary re-routing, or flight cancellations, always prioritizing safety and efficiency.
- Contributes actively to general department duties when not engaged in flight operations, which includes, but is not limited to, dedicated attendance at crew meetings.
Operational Scope & Work Environment
Flight operations are diverse and global in nature, comprising approximately two-thirds North American missions and one-third international missions, with destinations spanning South America, Europe, and Asia.
This position is primarily based at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW). However, occasional assignments may originate from Waterford, MI, depending on the assigned aircraft's preceding flight. Prospective candidates must maintain a primary residence within a two-hour commute of DTW to ensure operational readiness.
The role requires adaptability to a dynamic work schedule. Based on 2024 data, crew members serving this account have averaged 16 active days per month, with activity levels subject to seasonal increases and decreases.
Required Qualifications
- Current and valid FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate.
- Minimum of 4,000 hours of verifiable total flight time.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate without restrictions.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and adapt to a variable and demanding work schedule.
- Compliance with customer's requirement for full COVID-19 vaccination status.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Extensive international flight experience on large cabin Gulfstream aircraft.
- Specific and verifiable experience with the Gulfstream G550 aircraft platform.
