Job Description

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced and highly skilled Pilot-in-Command to join a professional aviation department operating a fleet of four aircraft with an established team of 15 pilots and 5 cabin attendants. The flight operations portfolio includes approximately two-thirds North American missions and one-third international missions, encompassing South America, Europe, and Asia.

The Pilot-in-Command assumes full responsibility for the safety, comfort, and timely execution of all flight operations. This pivotal role involves direct supervision of the flight crew, ensuring strict compliance with all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Regulations and company standards. The Pilot-in-Command is entrusted with critical operational decision-making, including determining optimal routes, speeds, and take-off/landing times to meet demanding scheduling requirements. Collaborative pre-flight mission planning with trip coordinators and international handlers is a key aspect of the role, often commencing days prior to departure. Furthermore, the Pilot-in-Command is empowered to make informed decisions regarding potential delays, re-routing, or flight cancellations, prioritizing safety and operational efficiency. Beyond flight duties, pilots contribute to general departmental responsibilities, including active participation in crew meetings and other assigned tasks.

Work Environment & Location

The primary base for this position is Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), with occasional assignments from Waterford, Michigan, depending on aircraft positioning. Prospective candidates must reside within a two-hour commute of DTW. In 2024, crew members supporting this account have averaged approximately 16 days of work per month, with activity levels fluctuating seasonally.
