Position Summary

Papillon Airways, a premier air tour operator serving the majestic Grand Canyon National Park, is seeking highly qualified and professional Helicopter Line Pilots (PIC) to join its dynamic and fast-paced flight operations team. This critical role demands an unwavering commitment to safety, adherence to stringent Part 135 regulations, and the provision of an exceptional tour experience for all passengers. The selected candidate will operate commercial air tours in one of the world's most spectacular environments.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

The Helicopter Line Pilot will serve as the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) for commercial air tour flights. Core responsibilities include:

  • Executing safe and highly professional air tour operations in a high-volume, dynamic flight environment.
  • Determining and certifying the airworthiness of the assigned rotorcraft prior to all flight segments, maintaining strict compliance with maintenance protocols.
  • Managing flight operations efficiently while strictly adhering to all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, company policies, and the Papillon Operational Standards (TOPS).
  • Maintaining efficiency and professionalism while upholding a busy daily flight schedule.
  • Providing outstanding customer service and clear, professional communication to passengers throughout the duration of the tour experience.

Required Qualifications and Flight Experience Minimums

Candidates must satisfy all FAA Commercial Part 135 minimums and company operational standards (TOPS). Successful applicants must demonstrate strong attention to detail and outstanding communication skills.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid FAA Commercial Rotorcraft License
  • Instrument Rotorcraft Rating

Flight Experience

  • Minimum 1000 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) Helicopter time.
  • Minimum 100 hours helicopter cross-country time.
  • Minimum 25 hours night cross-country time.
  • Note: Previous turbine helicopter experience is not a mandatory requirement for this position.

Operational Requirements

  • Must possess basic computer proficiency for administrative and flight logging tasks.
  • Applicants must demonstrate excellent communication and superior customer service skills.

Schedule and Operational Demands

This role demands operational flexibility and commitment to a demanding schedule typical of high-volume air tour operations.

  • Pilots will be required to work duty days of up to 14 hours.
  • The position utilizes structured shift schedules, including 7 days on / 7 days off (7 & 7) or 4 days on / 3 days off (4 & 3) rotations.
