Role Overview and Job Summary
The First Officer will serve as Second-in-Command (SIC) aboard the Pilatus PC-24 jet, conducting Airplane Air Ambulance (HAA) missions in compliance with CAMTS guidelines. This is a crucial dual-pilot, Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) position that is integral to PHI Health’s rapid medical response network. Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform all requisite line pilot duties in strict accordance with the General Operations Manual (GOM).
- Support and actively promote the Safety Management System, Destination Zero, and other company safety campaigns.
- Ensure safe, efficient, courteous, and reliable service delivery to both internal and external customers.
- Participate in community outreach programs as needed, adhering to all PHI Air Medical policies.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of patients and equipment, requiring physical effort.
- Successfully complete required aircraft transition training (if applicable, requiring a one-year minimum service requirement).
Compensation, Schedule, and Location
PHI Health offers a highly competitive compensation and benefits package, including competitive pay, shift bonuses, shift incentives, an Annual Safety Bonus, and an Annual Employee Bonus.
- Schedule: Fixed 7-days-on, 7-days-off rotational schedule (24-hour operations with day/night rotations).
- Location: Houston, Texas.
- Residency Requirement: The successful applicant must reside within a one-hour commuting distance of the assigned base.
- Relocation: A relocation package is available; utilization of this package necessitates a two-year minimum service commitment. Housing accommodations will not be provided.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
The successful candidate must possess the following certifications and experience:
- Current and qualified VE7A certificate.
- Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Airplane, Multi-engine Land rating.
- Current First Class Medical Certificate.
- Minimum Flight Hours (CAMTS Requirement for SIC):
- 2,000 Total Airplane Hours.
- 1,000 Hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) multi-engine.
- 500 hours as PIC in multi-engine airplanes.
- 100 Night hours.
- Demonstrated strong communication, internal, and external customer service skills.
- Successful interview and acceptance by the customer and PHI management.
- Ability to meet a maximum body weight requirement of 235 pounds.
- Successful completion of a pre-placement physical exam, including a functional capacity exam (requiring the ability to lift 100 pounds), drug screening, and comprehensive background screen.
- Compliance with all mandated medical screenings and vaccinations, including the Covid-19 vaccine, Tuberculosis screening, and required titers/vaccinations for Varivax, MMR, Tdap, and Hepatitis B (for staff with exposure risk), and an annual flu vaccination.
