Position Summary
The Director of Flight Operations reports to the VP of Operations and is responsible for designing infrastructure that supports the safe, efficient, and legal execution of flight operations. This role involves developing operational solutions, managing supervisory staff, and serving as the primary point of contact for operational control. The Director oversees aircraft performance, record keeping, FAA relations, and talent acquisition.
Key Responsibilities

Direct the flight operations department to ensure compliance with all laws, rules, and regulations.

Develop and enforce comprehensive company policies regarding flight and maintenance activities.

Perform duties as a flight crewmember when properly qualified.

Oversee the selection process for all flight operations personnel.

Manage all record-keeping requirements, including maintaining load manifests at the Principal Base of Operations for at least 30 days.

Maintain a professional working relationship with FAA Principal Inspectors.

Assign qualified and current pilots to each flight and ensure every flight has a designated Pilot-in-Command.

Collaborate with the Director of Maintenance and the Pilot-in-Command to confirm aircraft maintenance and inspection status prior to flight.
Education and Experience Requirements

Must hold an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.

For candidates with prior Director of Operations experience: Minimum 3 years of experience as Pilot-in-Command under Part 121 or Part 135.

For first-time Directors of Operations: Minimum 3 years of experience within the past 6 years as Pilot-in-Command under Part 121 or Part 135.

Alternative requirement: Minimum 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience within the last 6 years in a role exercising operational control under Part 121 or Part 135.

PC 24 experience is preferred.
Safety and Compliance
This is a safety-sensitive position involving work in heavy manufacturing facilities and on federal project sites. Candidates must be capable of working at heights, in confined spaces, and around heavy equipment. Duties may require night and weekend availability. Due to the nature of federal contracting, this role is subject to stringent drug testing and compliance policies. Successful candidates must sign a standard confidentiality agreement.
