Purpose of the Position
The Second In Command will play a critical role in collaborating closely with the Pilot in Command (PIC) to ensure the flawless and secure operation of all executive flights. This includes diligently assisting with comprehensive flight planning, precise execution, and maintaining a steadfast commitment to customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will be fully prepared to assume command responsibilities should the Pilot in Command become incapacitated, demonstrating exemplary leadership and operational acumen under all circumstances.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Second In Command include, but are not limited to:
- Executing all duties allocated by the Commander to guarantee the safety of every flight and its passengers, in strict accordance with the aircraft's Flight Manual, company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and all applicable aviation legislation.
- Actively assisting the Pilot in Command in the safe, efficient, and timely execution of flight operations.
- Ensuring precise navigation of the aircraft, performing continuous and independent checks of both geographical position and safe terrain clearance.
- Diligently performing all operational procedures and checklists in strict accordance with the Airplane Flight Manual, Operations Manuals, and as directed by the flight commander.
- Promptly reporting any occurrences or incidents to the Pilot in Command that have endangered or could potentially endanger flight safety.
- Notifying the Pilot in Command of any fault, failure, malfunction, or defect believed to impact the airworthiness or safe operation of the aircraft.
- Consistently delivering the highest possible standard of customer service to passengers, thereby contributing significantly to overall customer satisfaction and retention within executive aviation.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Candidates must possess a proven track record and meet the following stringent requirements:
- A minimum of 1500 hours total flight time; candidates with 1000 hours total turbine time may also be considered.
- EASA Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) with current and appropriate type ratings.
- A valid European Union Class 1 Medical Certificate.
- Clear demonstration of excellent performance and professional conduct.
- Extensive flight experience across Europe.
- Fluency in English (ICAO Level 6 preferred). Proficiency in two or more additional European languages is a distinct advantage.
- Must be based in the South of England, or willing to relocate.
Desired Attributes & Background
- Type-rating on BD700 Global 6000 is preferred.
- A robust background in commercial aviation, particularly within EUOPS and/or AIROPS environments, is highly advantageous.
- Previous military or airline training is considered a significant asset.
