Fixed Wing Test Pilot Instructor

The National Test Pilot School, a globally recognized leader in flight test training and education and the only accredited test pilot school, seeks a highly qualified Fixed Wing Test Pilot Instructor to join its esteemed team. This individual will contribute to the development and delivery of flight test course materials, providing both academic and airborne instruction on all aspects of the Fixed Wing Performance & Flying Qualities and Systems curriculum. The instruction will be directed toward both Test Pilot and Flight Test Engineer students. The successful candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal skills enabling them to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experience levels. The ability to explain complex technical subjects clearly and concisely to facilitate student understanding and application is essential.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a Society of Experimental Test Pilots (SETP) recognized Test Pilot School.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a field closely related to flight testing.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Fixed Wing Experimental Test Pilot.
  • Possession of a current FAA Medical 2nd Class Certificate.
  • Fluency in the English language.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ten or more years of experience in flight testing.
  • Previous instructional experience at a Test Pilot School.
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Test experience with Civil Certification, Radar, Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR), and Communication/Navigation systems.
  • FAA Commercial Pilot License with Airplane (Single-Engine Land/Multi-Engine Land), Certified Flight Instructor/Multi-Engine Instructor (CFI/MEI), and Instrument Airplane ratings.
  • Type Rating/Authorized Experimental in the following aircraft: S-265, AV-L39, MB-326, NH-T38.
  • EASA Flight Test Instructor rating.
  • Experience with Night Vision Goggles (NVG) and/or Helmet Mounted Displays.

This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary range of $170,000.00 to $190,000.00 per year, a 401k retirement plan with employer matching, and a comprehensive benefits package. Occasional travel for field trips, student projects, course presentations, and consulting is required.
