Key responsibilities include One Army School System (OASS) integration and Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE) maintenance for all relevant platforms and simulation devices utilized by the Army National Guard.
Position Summary
Leidos is seeking a highly skilled and experienced CH-47 Chinook Instructor Pilot to join its team supporting the Army National Guard (ANG) Aviation Training Services and Operational Support (ATSOS) program. This critical role is based in Annville, PA, at Fort Indiantown Gap. The Instructor Pilot will deliver in-flight instruction on AATS-assigned CH-47F aircraft, conduct instructor qualification courses, manage readiness level progressions, and provide training for the Aviation Tactics Instructor Course (ATIC), alongside regional and foreign military training initiatives. The selected candidate will also perform Instructor Operator tasks and academic instruction to support the AATS student training mission. All training activities must strictly adhere to AR 95-1, TRADOC Programs of Instruction (POI), CH-47 Digital Aircrew Training Module (dATM), and local AATS Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Compliance with DCMA INST 8210-1D requirements is mandatory for all contractor Instructor Pilots.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintains comprehensive training records for formal course students and manages Aircrew Training Program (ATP) records for unit and readiness level (RL) progression trainees.
- Delivers instruction and conducts evaluations for student pilots in accordance with Training Support Packages for AATS-approved courses of instruction.
- Conducts daily academic instruction of approved Programs of Instruction (POI), including Aircraft Qualification Course, Instructor Pilot Course, Aircraft Standardization Course, and Maintenance Test Pilot Course.
- Facilitates thorough pre-mission planning and conducts detailed after-action reviews for all flight and simulation periods.
- Ensures completion of all Aircrew Training Program (ATP) requirements as mandated by DCMA INST 8210-1D, AR 95-1, and the applicable Digital Aircrew Training Module (dATM). Participation in the No-notice evaluation program is required.
- Coordinates daily tasks and requirements for contract employees, such as work schedules and leave, to ensure alignment with AATS missioned training requirements and schoolhouse accreditation, as directed by AATS chains of command.
- Ensures strict compliance with all pertinent Army, National Guard, and AATS policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Collaborates with the Government Flight Representative (GFR) to verify that all contractors are qualified to perform aviation training tasks in accordance with DCMA INST 8210.1D.
- Reports Instructor Flight and Operation data accurately in the Task Order Monthly Report.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma with a minimum of twelve (12) years of applicable experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree with at least eight (8) years of relevant experience.
- Instructor Pilot experience with a minimum of 250 military IP Flight Hours, or two (2) years of IP experience at any USAACE approved or OASS accredited program. Flight time and operational experience may be considered by the GFR based on a records review in accordance with DCMA INST 8210-1C.
- USAACE/AATS (or equivalent Army approved NET) qualified Instructor Pilot (IP) in the specific aircraft type for which duties will be performed.
- Possession of an Instructor Training Course (ITC) or Army Basic Instructor Course (ABIC) qualification, or successful graduation from an AATS-provided ABIC course within 12 months of the contractor employee start date.
- Valid FAA Commercial Pilot or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate.
- Required to hold an FAA Second Class flight physical. Army Contractor pilots have the option to maintain either an annual FAA Second Class Medical Certificate or an Army Class 2 Flight Duty Medical Examination (FDME) as per DCMA 8210.1D, para 4.3.5.1.2.
- Demonstrated experience as a Standardization Pilot (SP), Instrument Flight Examiner (IE), and/or Instructor Pilot (IP) within an OASS school, MTOE, or TDA organization at the company and/or battalion level.
- For contractor pilots designated as Instrument Flight Examiners (IE), Standardization Instructor Pilots (SP), Instructor Pilots (IP), and Maintenance Evaluators (ME), all Army initial aircraft qualifications and recurrent training requirements per AR 95-1 and the applicable aircraft Digital Aircrew Training Module (dATM) must be met (DCMA 8210.1D, para 4.3.4.3).
- Must satisfy instructor qualification requirements as specified in TR 350-10 and TR 350-70.
- Adherence to minimum qualifications prescribed by DCMA INST 8210.1D for contractors performing flight operations as Rated Crewmembers (Instructor Pilot, Instrument Flight Examiner, Standardization Instructor Pilot, Maintenance Test Pilot, Functional Check Pilot) or Non-Rated Crewmembers (Flight Engineer Instructor, Flight Instructor, Crew Chief).
- All contractor Rated and Non-Rated Crewmembers will receive Aircraft Combat Training – Embedded (ACT-E) qualification and sustainment training in accordance with TC 3-04.11.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products.
- Instructor Pilot (IP) experience at EAATS, HAATS, WAATS, or a U.S. Army Aviation Training Center.
- Desired USAACE qualified Instrument Flight Examiner (IFE).
