Instructor Pilot

Job Summary

CAE x SIMCOM is seeking a qualified Instructor Pilot to deliver ground school and simulator training for Initial, Recurrent, and specialty pilot courses. The role involves adherence to CAE x SIMCOM training standards, safety policies, and regulatory requirements. The Instructor Pilot will guide customers in developing essential skills and confidence for safe and effective operations through tailored instruction, lesson planning, training session setup, and maintenance of learning materials. Occasional travel may be required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver standardized training in classroom and/or simulator settings for Captain Upgrades, Initial/Recurrent Training, PIC/SIC Evaluations, Differences Training, and Remedial Training.
  • Enforce company standards and promote safe operating practices.
  • Provide clear, effective instruction utilizing strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Accurately and impartially evaluate pilot performance.
  • Conduct simulator and ground training for customers.
  • Maintain accurate training records and submit required documentation punctually.
  • Evaluate customer progress against SIMCOM training standards.
  • Serve as a liaison between customers and training center management.
  • Conduct Proficiency Checks and Certification Checks under FAR 135/142, if authorized as a TCE.
  • Participate in training meetings and conferences to address customer requirements.
  • Maintain qualifications, certifications, and instructional proficiency.
  • Exhibit professionalism at all times.
  • Perform related duties and assignments as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or state-issued equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3,000 total flight hours.
  • Possession of an unrestricted ATP certificate and one unrestricted PIC type rating.
  • Demonstrated passion for teaching with strong communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and other internet-based programs.
  • Must participate in CAE’s DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program.
  • Must be authorized to live and work in the United States.
  • Excellent fluency in English (spoken and written).
  • Strong listening and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or college degree.
  • Previous teaching or training experience.
  • Experience flying business aircraft.
  • Existing instructor qualification or type rating.
  • Experience on the Phenom 300 with an EMB-505 type rating.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and poles.
  • Ability to move into various positions, including confined spaces.
  • Ability to remain in stationary positions for prolonged periods (standing or sitting).
  • Ability to move about to accomplish tasks.
  • Ability to adjust or move objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive wrist, hand, or finger motions.
