Senior Instructor, National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV)
Leidos is seeking a dynamic Senior Instructor to join the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) team. This position supports the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Eastern Service Area (ESA) NISC support team, contributing to outstanding customer service for FAA stakeholders receiving NISC services. This role presents an exciting opportunity to leverage extensive experience in support of the vital NISC IV mission. The NISC IV contract provides essential technical instruction for new hire Electronics personnel, equipping them with the requisite skills for executing fiber optics projects assigned to Engineering Services.
This is a remote consulting position, allowing candidates to be located anywhere within the US. The role requires travel to Lakeland, Florida, or other locations as needed for teaching assignments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a Senior Level Instructor or Trainer, delivering classroom instruction to students through lectures, demonstrations, laboratory exercises, and testing.
- Conduct courses in-person, potentially involving both day and evening classes.
- Assist students in developing fundamental skills necessary to serve as an entry-level fiber optic cable installer or technician.
- Instruct fundamental principles of fiber optic technology, encompassing knowledge of different fiber types, splicing techniques, network design, safety protocols, and the use of specialized tools for connecting and activating fiber optic networks.
- Teach electronic and fiber optic fundamental safety practices, including but not limited to personal protective equipment (PPE), cable handling, proper handling of various chemicals, cleaners, and adhesives, adherence to industry standards, and ensuring proper training to avoid injury and damage.
- Provide both classroom and laboratory instruction to students.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 12 years of working knowledge in FAA electrical and electronics systems are required.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Engineering Scheduling tools and applications. The ability to effectively use the Internet for information gathering and communication is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms.
- Skill in accomplishing clear and concise general and technical writing.
- Ability to tactfully coordinate with a variety of project stakeholders, peers, and management levels.
- Possession of a basic knowledge of multiple disciplines regarding their general requirements for typical FAA electrical and electronics systems.
