LUH-72 Synthetic Flight Training Simulator Instructor Operator

Leidos, a leading provider of innovative solutions, seeks a highly motivated and experienced individual to join its Integrated Airborne Solutions (IAS) Division as a LUH-72 Synthetic Flight Training Simulator (SFTS) Instructor Operator. This pivotal role supports the Army National Guard (ANG) Aviation Training Services and Operational Support (ATSOS) program at Edgewood, MD. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of exceptional flight and simulation training, integral to the readiness and proficiency of Army National Guard aviators.

Responsibilities:

The LUH-72 SFTS Instructor Operator will be responsible for:

  • Delivering simulated flight training to AATS students and regional users, emphasizing the proper use of aircraft systems, emergency procedures, and instrument flight techniques.
  • Developing and maintaining relevant mission training scenarios tailored for regional users.
  • Providing instruction and evaluations to student pilots in accordance with AATS approved Training Support Packages.
  • Conducting Aircrew Coordination Training-Enhanced (ACT-E) in compliance with the approved course Training Support Package.
  • Maintaining comprehensive training records for both formal course students and unit readiness level progression trainees.
  • Conducting academic platform instruction for various courses including the Instructor Operator course, Instrument Flight Examiner Prep and Refresher courses, and AATS courses.
  • Facilitating pre-mission planning and after-action reviews for all simulation periods.
  • Ensuring compliance with all aircrew training program (ATP) requirements and participating in a no-notice evaluation program.
  • Developing, updating, and publishing training schedules using an electronic database.
  • Leading the annual simulation scheduling conference.
  • Tracking schedule changes and preparing monthly reports for flight simulators and hardware maintenance trainers.
  • Coordinating with the maintenance contractor for simulator status updates and service requests.
  • Liaising with unit course managers to schedule formal course simulation time.
  • Collaborating with regional users and relevant stakeholders to ensure the proper utilization of allocated simulation hours.
  • Verifying and correcting contractor performance reports and submitting them to the Contracting Officer's Representative (COTR).
  • Updating the flight schedule in accordance with maintenance requirements.
  • Maintaining a semi-annual publication library of historical information and facility reports for all simulators.
  • Acting as a RFMSS Fire Desk Operator, ensuring all simulator training periods are scheduled and closed out in the system in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma with eight years of applicable experience, or a Bachelor's Degree with four years of experience.
  • Must be qualified as an Instructor Pilot in the respective aircraft simulator and an Instrument Flight Examiner, or possess three years of experience as an Aviation Simulator Instructor Operator in the required aircraft device.
  • Prior experience training or operating with Army Aviation (or Military Equivalent) is mandatory.
  • Must be USAACE/AATS qualified Instructor Pilot in the airframe for which simulation duties will be performed or possess a minimum of 3 years of experience as an Instructor Operator in the assigned device.
  • Completion of the Instructor Training Course (ITC) or ABIC qualification; or successful graduation from an AATS provided ABIC course within 12 months of start date is required.
  • Must meet instructor qualification requirements as defined by the Aviation proponent.
  • Demonstrated simulator operations experience as a unit trainer, an instructor pilot, or a maintenance test flight examiner.
  • Must be a USAACE qualified Instrument Flight Examiner.
  • Ability to complete the unit aircrew training program within 3 months of starting work if not an instructor pilot.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products.
Compensation:

The pay range for this position is $63,700.00 - $115,150.00. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and other applicable factors.
