Your New Role and Responsibilities

In this highly dynamic environment, the successful applicant will join a passionate, highly skilled, and mission-focused team. A primary responsibility involves commanding and delivering flight crew training on a highly modified Dash 8 aircraft, equipped with advanced surveillance technology. As a captain within the surveillance team, incumbents will provide essential leadership and support to the entire crew, ensuring each mission is executed diligently, quickly, and professionally. Membership in the training and checking team is critical for the professional development of Dash 8 pilots, involving the conduct of training and checking activities both in the aircraft and via simulator. This vital role offers excellent opportunities for career advancement, with provided training for additional instructor and examiner qualifications.

What You'll Bring to Make an Impact

  • Australian Citizenship with a current Australian passport.
  • Valid CASA Class 1 Aviation Medical Certificate.
  • Australian ATPL(A) (Airline Transport Pilot Licence - Aeroplane).
  • Minimum of 1000 hours Pilot in Command (PIC) experience in multi-crew operations on type-rated aeroplanes.
  • Australian Flight or Simulator Instructor Rating.
  • For simulator roles: Type rating training activity endorsement on any multi-crew type-rated aircraft.
  • Eligibility for both an Aviation Security Identity Card (ASIC) and Australian government security clearances.

Compensation and Benefits

Leidos Airborne Solutions Australia offers attractive remuneration packages. Specific details include:

Training Captains: Commencing from $212,961 annually.

Simulator Instructors: Commencing from $250,503 annually.

These figures are subject to a 6% increase scheduled for 2026, along with 2% annual increments.
