Position Summary
The Pilot in Command (PIC) reports directly to the Lead Captain, adhering to company operating policies and procedures. The PIC is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient conduct of all assigned flights, prioritizing safety, security, and quality. They exercise ultimate authority over all flight operations, ensuring the safe execution of every flight.
Minimum Requirements
- Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with an appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Obtaining and maintaining an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- 4,000 hours of total fixed-wing flight time.
- 1,500 hours of multi-engine land flight time.
- 2,000 hours as Pilot in Command.
- 1,500 hours of turbojet flight time.
- 1,500 hours of turbine flight time.
- 100 hours of night flight time.
- 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument flight time.
- Five years of aviation experience.
- Flexibility to work varying schedules.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide without any restrictions.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
Main Responsibilities
- Safe operation of the aircraft, determining departure times and routes, and canceling flights based on weather or other conditions.
- Ensuring flight compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Implementing necessary en route adjustments to maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conducting flights in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Accurate completion of all trip paperwork according to current procedures.
- Ensuring thorough communication and understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Recording all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log and promptly reporting them to the Director of Maintenance or their designee. Determining, in accordance with the approved MEL and directives from the DOM or their designee, whether inoperative items can be deferred or require immediate repair and completing the aircraft discrepancy log accordingly.
- Verifying that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintaining a comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized for operation, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Securing the aircraft after each flight, arranging hangar storage as deemed necessary or as instructed by company management.
- Obtaining the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from an FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- Filing or initiating the filing of a flight plan with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyzing area, en route, and terminal charts for the intended landing airport and alternates.
- Performing the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the twelve-five standard security program or the private charter standard security program, as applicable.
- Conducting or assigning to the Second in Command the required passenger safety briefings.
- Imparting knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them to assume the duties of Pilot in Command in an emergency or upon upgrading to Pilot in Command in that aircraft.
- Completing and sending the leg manifest to Operations Control prior to each departure.
- Completing and sending the End of Day (EOD) report to Operations Control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively supporting open sharing of information on all safety issues and reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately reporting any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Delegating duties as necessary, but retaining responsibility for those duties.
- Performing other duties as required.
- Representing Jet Aviation as a unified company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
