Jet Aviation: Pilot in Command Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pilot in Command to join our esteemed team.

Position Summary

The Pilot in Command reports to the Lead Captain, adhering to company operating policies and procedures. This crucial role is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of all flight assignments, prioritizing safety, security, and quality. The Pilot in Command holds ultimate authority for the safe conduct of all assigned flights.

Minimum Requirements

  • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating
  • Valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate
  • 4,000 hours Total Fixed-Wing flight time
  • 1,500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time
  • 2,000 hours Pilot-in-Command flight time
  • 1,500 hours Turbojet flight time
  • 1,500 hours Turbine flight time
  • 100 hours Night flight time
  • 75 hours Instrument flight time (actual or simulated)
  • A minimum of 5 years of dedicated aviation experience
  • Flexibility to work varied and demanding schedules
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide without restrictions
  • Possession of a valid driver's license

Main Responsibilities

  • Safely operate the aircraft, determining optimal departure times and routes, with the authority to cancel flights due to weather or other safety concerns.
  • Ensure all flights are conducted in strict compliance with federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Implement necessary adjustments to flight plans based on en route conditions, ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Conduct all flights in a safe and prudent manner, upholding industry and company standards.
  • Maintain accurate and complete trip paperwork in accordance with established procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Second in Command to ensure a comprehensive understanding of all flight aspects.
  • Diligently record all aircraft discrepancies as they arise on the aircraft discrepancy log and promptly report them to the Director of Maintenance or their designee.
  • Assess aircraft discrepancies against the approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and follow direction from the Director of Maintenance regarding deferral or repair, completing the discrepancy log accordingly.
  • Verify that the flight crew reports for duty in appropriate attire and is mentally and physically fit for duty.
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of all authorized aircraft systems, including emergency systems and procedures.
  • Secure the aircraft post-flight, arranging for hangar storage when necessary or as directed by company management.
  • Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from authorized agencies.
  • File or ensure the filing of flight plans with the FAA or applicable ICAO State ATC facility.
  • Analyze area, en route, and terminal charts for the destination airport and alternates.
  • Perform duties as the In-TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) in accordance with relevant security programs.
  • Conduct required passenger safety briefings or delegate this duty to the Second in Command.
  • Mentor and train the Second in Command to prepare them for assuming Pilot in Command duties in emergencies or during upgrades.
  • Complete and transmit the leg manifest to Ops Control prior to each departure.
  • Complete and transmit the End of Day (EOD) report to Ops Control upon conclusion of each flight day.
  • Actively contribute to a culture of open safety information sharing and promptly report all safety hazards and concerns.
  • Report any hazardous actions, conduct, or events immediately to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
  • The Pilot in Command may delegate tasks but retains responsibility for their completion.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Represent Jet Aviation as a unified entity internally and externally to industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.

Employees must be adaptable to working in both heavy maintenance environments and upscale customer areas. Noise levels are typically moderate, with occasional high volumes during aircraft arrivals and departures. Exposure to vibration is frequent. Occasional fuel fumes may be present. Employees must be willing and able to work in all weather conditions. The hangar environment can experience extreme temperatures during certain seasons.
